Default For me album of the year looks to be a three way tie

Kanye - Yeezus
The Weeknd - Kiss Land
Queens of the Stone Age - Like Clockwork

What's your album of the year?

Still waiting for the new Sebadoh album but so far I'd say MBV or The Terror.

Mods can we please merge this thread with the other 2013 thread so we can have an AOTY at the actual end of the year?

I'm not actually sure if I have liked much in 2013. Mark Kozelek and Neko Case both let me down

For me, I don't see anything beating Deafheaven's Sunbather.

Okay i'll play: so far Sunbather is the frontrunner but John Hopkins has made an album that's comparably impressive in a totally different genre, and Dillinger Escape Plan have made an album so great it would have been my AOTY if it had come out last year. James Blake, NAILS, Run The Jewels and KEN Mode all deserve nods too. I could name another 30 albums/EPs that run the gamut from "fucking superb" through to "really really good" so it's been a good year no matter which way you cut it.

I still have yet to listen to that Dillinger album. I'll have to do that this weekend. I'm with you on KEN mode, though.

I have a couple others that will be high on the list as well (The Flaming Lips, Noisem, Chelsea Wolfe, Altar of Plagues), and there are a few thrash releases at the end of October that I have high hopes for. So yeah, it has definitely been a good year.

i'm embarrassingly uncool as usual, and this is the first time i've heard the album but my mind doesn't know what to do with sunbather except love it.

I didn't like the new single I heard from her. I saw a review that compared her with the Weeknd in that she's making experimental R&B music. I did like a couple of songs off of her last one but that one seemed almost Neo Soul sounding at times. And I do like Neo Soul.
