he wasn't even trying to cover the light with his hand or anything, he was holding it up as a fucking beacon so his ostensibly blind wife could find her way into port. it was extremely distracting at the very beginning of the movie, the first half of which wasn't in English so yeah when you're trying to read subs and some idiot is holding a bright ass light up in front of you in a darkened room, it's fucking obnoxious.

but the reason I got so pissed was because when the other old guy asked him to put it away a second time he responded by waving the light in the guy's face. totally fucking inappropriate

I've been lead to believe you can get a refund if you complain about the bad behavior of other patrons. I've yet to test this out myself.
