the main thing that bugs me about game of thrones is that it has become much less engaging.
many storylines are dull, boring, or pointless (the entire dorne storyline this season being a fine example).

the dorne thing was HORRIBLE outside of the real star of all of that, the alcazar de sevilla.

the resolution of it was a completely awkward fight that bronn LOSES and then

can't wait for the reaction to next weekend and the season finale. I think we know what's going to happen at the wall and in Kings Landing. I wonder which character's fate will be the last thing we see before next season.

After 5 years of this I can't believe that people still feign outrage over the death or debasement of any character. I'm even more perplexed by those who've read thousands of pages of Martin's writings and STILL are outraged by the events on the TV series. The books are a long slog worth of misery and horror for one character after another.

I remember when joss whedon killed off Joyce Summers. Way before that I had read an interview where Whedon had said that for people to really feel invested in a character (on BtVS) they have to know that no one was safe. Any one of them could die. He was right. I'm also still upset about the ending of Serenity.

I agree. I do think, though, that the set-up for it on the TV Series came relatively swiftly. Viewers are watching him in one episode march toward Winterfell to liberate the north, and the next episode he's roasting his own daughter. They didn't give the viewer nearly enough to believe he'd go that far that quickly. I'd kind of like to have seen him spend less time at Castle Black earlier in the season and more time snowed in with his starving army.

i don't understand what this means because the only way it makes any sense directed to me is if you thought i was seriously literally advocating the arrest and investigation of the game of thrones producers for putting out a show that i don't like but that can't be right

if it makes you feel better i'll also hate it and think it is stupid and makes no sense for the story or character if stannis burns his daughter alive in the books (also note that i've been consistently trashing the last two books in the series, i'm not giving railroad martin any leeway here)

although that would be weird considering in the books stannis is about to march on winterfell with asha and theon as hostages and possible burn candidates but melisandre and shireen are at the wall hundreds of miles away because presumably as much as he's gone off the rails george doesn't want to have stannis burn his daughter alive right before a climactic showdown with the current worst villain in the series because he wants people to care about the outcome

all of theon's torture took place "off screen" (again, as did the rape of Fake Arya/Jeyne Poole), and just picks up in book 5 after his transformation into "Reek" but the idiots running this show decided to spend 2 1/2 seasons beating over our heads how SiCk aNd FuKKeD Up Ramsay is
it's bad writing, it's cheap, and it's gross and yes it's all offensive to me because of how pointless it is
at this point i hope the books are never finished and i can just let it all go entirely

the only way it happens in the books any time soon is if melisandre sacrifices shireen herself to resurrect another character
maybe stannis and shireen are reunited and stannis is in an even more desperate situation after he fails to take winterfell but with the distance between them i don't see how that would happen especially if he's defeated again unless he sends melisandre a raven and tells her to do it
either way it's just as stupid if it happens there
