Default Is anyone else sick of how much trap and EDM have taken over music?

Trap and EDM have completely changed the face of popular music. So many different genres of music now have those influences or sounds. It's like its suffocating the music industry.

Definitely think it's going to lead today's youth astray into lives of vice and delinquency.

I don't even know what trap is.

About EDM...isnt this like a new term to define something that is technically really fucking old? Also to me it's like calling music with guitars rock. It seems really broad.

I like some electronic music but find the vast majority that's out there right now lacking in one way or another.

this is also weird coming from someone who has been known to rep drake, the weeknd, PND, & whatever else

isn't this your so-called "bread & butter" ? dubstep drops in ariana grande songs are pretty funny i guess but it sure beats whatever was goin on 7-10 years ago or whatev (though in all fairness that could be me just remembering back on hating everything in hs)

p.s. 2k break out them bottles

I'm a downtempo and trip hop person and there a lot of downtempo and trip hop influences in the Weeknd's music moreso than trap. He'll ocassionally do a trap song. PND is more about trap I'll admit but there are still a lot of downtempo influences in the OVO sound. If it was nothing but trap and EDM I wouldn't like it.

If you lot were paying any attention at all you'd realise that brostep/american dubstep has been dead for the better part of two years and that Skrillex has pretty much fizzled out (and that his label is putting out dope stuff like Hundred Waters, Salva, Birdy Nam Nam etc)

Anyway trap is a pretty loose genre, it's pretty much just a style of doing hihats.

I just meant that in the internet age where you can easily listen to anything you want why fuss about popular music being something you don't like?

Who cares?
