I started having a tiny mp3 player on me for social gatherings a couple of years ago. sometimes I just can't handle it and still have to show up.
standing in a corner for 5 minutes and listening to a The Cure song that is dedicated to this purpose helps.

I'm aware. I don't think I even drink like this because I want to get that drunk, it's like a way to harm myself and show everyone how worthless I am. Or something.

sad thing is I woke up this morning and was basically fine. went to work and now my only problem is I am out of beer again

it's like when I feel so bad and negative, I literally cannot figure out how to alleviate those feelings or express my self-loathing other than to get fucked up

I don't even get fucked up when I'm sad, because I feel like it'll probably make it worse, rather than alleviate the pain. I rarely get drunk, but I've seen too many drunk crying people (most of them were my father) to be convinced that alcohol is an analgesic.

Most people with social anxiety probably drink to lower their inhibitions, but I'm too terrified of losing control and making an ass of myself, so ironically, my maladaptive fear of embarrassment actually prevents harmful behaviour that usually occurs with the illness.

Most I do is take some edible gummies so I fall asleep quicker and don't have to be conscious and sad as long. Well, I'm probably still sad in my dreams, but I never remember them, anyhow.

I have taken an asparin when feeling sad, because I reasoned that if emotional pain seems to be felt physically as well as mentally (that feeling in your chest when you're heartbroken, for instance), painkillers should alleviate it in a similar manner to how they alleviate physiological pain (I need to find a better word for that— the brain is still part of our physiology).

I don’t know how people drink so much all the time. You must be as hard a nails, rbg. I drank too much beer two nights in a row because I was with my cousin and 48 hours later I still feel revolting.
