Default The 90's House on MTV

https://www.tvinsider.com/wp-content...2-1014x570.jpg

This is the latest reality show on MTV, and I have to admit, it's pretty fucking hilarious! (in the stupidest way possible)

The premise of the show is kind of like The Real World meets The Apprentice but with a twist... The show features millennials and they have to live in a house together with only 90's technology... No smart phones, no high-tech devices, only dial-up internet and fax machines and they can only wear clothes from the 90's. They literally have to behave like they're in the 90's.

Each week they have to do 90's themed competitions and the worst loser goes home. Last week the competition was that the cast-mates all went to a bar and they had to make "face to face" connections and get peoples phone numbers (just like people did in the 90's) and there could be no mention of social media or texting or anything like that... And when they were at the bar they had to be dressed in their 90's gear. One of the guys was freaking out going "What?!!? face to face connection!? no social media?! I can't do this shit!"

It's the stupidest shit I've ever seen, but it's a guilty pleasure that I find hilarious. A twist is that you can't talk like you're a millennial and one of the bro's is always saying "have mercy!"

Anyone else see this shit?

I'll say one thing, it does make me feel super fucking old!

It's funny. This one time they're just sitting around playing board games and the fat black guy comes in "whatcha all doinnnnnnn... BOARD GAMES?!? cmoonnnnnn the only people who play board games are boring, that's why they call them that" And he picks up the board and flings it all over the place and one of the Bro's starts getting all pissed off and he puts the box on his face, and the fat guys all "don't put no box on my face, don't put no box on my face"

God, I literally feel brain cells melting while I'm watching it but I'm laughing my head off at the same time.

Plus, that chick in the bottom middle is absolutely smoking. Worth watching the show just for her

It's funny, during one challenge they have to film an intro for a 90's sitcom, and they're handed the song on a cassette tape with a boombox, and they're all "What the hell, how do you work this thing?!"

I would give fuzz some neg rep for poor apostrophe use, but I have to spread. Anyone care to say anything noteworthy so I can make this happen?

Joey Jeremiah rates this show an uncertain blink on the scale of one to trendy.

You should check it out. It's good for some legit cheap, shameless laughs. I watch some crappy reality shows sometimes and feel ashamed of myself, but this isn't one of those shows. Like the era itself, the show delivers

Far as I can tell, nobody's rocking one of those baseball caps with a flap that hangs down to protect your neck from the sun. They're probably not even wearing sneakers with a pump feature.

You don't say? I couldn't disagree more.

When I first saw the show I was impressed with the authenticity of the wardrobes. I thought they would have everyone dress in trendy, 90's knock-off stuff or something, but that shits legit.

I forgot to mention, that chick in the jean jacket in the OP is Steph Curry's cousin.

Where's the Hypercolor shirt, if this is so accurate? The Stefani-style bindi appropriation?

Aside from the lady with the denim jacket and the dude with the basketball top, they really do look more like sitcom characters.

That's the way the kids dressed in the early 90's. Sure there was the rockers and metal kids and stuff too. But if you were trendy then chances are you had some take on what the cast is wearing.

Of course they probably amped it up a bit for the photo shoot. But if you watch the show, the clothes are pretty spot on. The guy on the far right was even rocking a Cobain look for an episode haha

I suspect you may be conflating Blossom reruns with personal memories, my friend.

If anybody dressed like most of them where I grew up, you could guarantee that a bully with a middle-parted undercut would rip the gel inserts right out of the shoes they didn't think to wear.
