It's about what I would expect.

There's never been any actual evidence to suggest that increasing the minimum wage has a negative effect

This fucking more than minimum motivation and contribution shit is really pissing me the fuck off everytime i look at it.

The few times i did have jobs, which were all shitty and minimum wage, i DID do it to the best of my capacity, I didn't drag my feet or rolled my eyes, but I didn't do more than was expected of me either (because why? I was gonna get ahead? A raise? there was nowhere to go or a cent more to earn) And I don't expect that either of anyone doing soul crushing minimum wage jobs. I don't even expect a smile. This whole (entitled actually) attitude of " geez the convenience store clerk didn't even smile at me or say hi, what's her problem?" (actually heard recently from a middle aged man i know who's well retired with a very good retirement pension) Yeah who gives a fuck? did she ring in your shit and gave you the right amount of change back in an acceptable amount of time? yeah? Then she did her job. The only reason she MIGHT ever say hi and smile anyway is just because her boss told her to otherwise she was fired (i know cause i've been there). It's the phony kind born out of fear, not the kind you want to see.

This is always too from people who DON'T have to be doing such a job. Or "yeah well i did it when i was in school and didn't complain". Yeah well maybe SHE doesn't even have the luxury of even being in school so SHE knows what waits for her is 30 years of this shit. So she's not smiling. Now grab your soda and your correct change and get the fuck out.

People really would prefer robots despite what they say. It's inconvenient that the minimum wage slaves should have feelings and needs and wants and dreams (being crushed, which is probably their fault)

I don't know if you've ever worked at a place like Burger King but one of the worst things a retail slave has to endure is the complete thanklessness they face every time they have to serve a giant shit like you and treat them like they're royalty. That might explain why they appear to be little shits.

My girlfriend recently regaled me with a story from when she used to work at the busiest (not one of the busiest, the busiest) Starbucks in New Zealand. She spoke, I transcribed:

It was another busy day at Starbucks, we had a line out the door, and I was serving on the register. This 40-something year old neckbeard approached the register and ordered a coffee, and when I asked for a name to put on the cup, he said to write "Hey Sexy". He wouldn't leave the register until I wrote that on.

As I was making the drink, one of my workmates told me what his real name was, as he was a regular. I finished his drink, and called out his real name. He was standing at the bar and said "Hey, come on doll, just call out the name on the cup." I said "It's your drink, you can take it now" and he said "It's your job, you have to call out the name on the cup. Don't be so stuck up, sweetheart".

At this point my manager popped her head around the corner and muttered to me, "just call out the name, so he'll go away". Not wanting to get in trouble with my boss, I said "Hey Sexy". He demanded that he couldn't hear me, so I called out "Hey Sexy!". He finally took the coffee and said "See, it's not so hard doing as you're told, is it?" along with some more objectifying pronouns.

You may not be aware, but Starbucks has a "just say yes" policy which covers almost anything that a customer can demand, short of free coffee for no reason.

We were told over and over again growing up (I hope so anyway) to get your college education/masters/doctorate etc. We were taught also the implications if we did not. Then what happens is people don't listen to what we were taught from kindergarden to 12th grade, get poor grades, don't go to college, then bitch that they can not find a job or that they make minimum wage. The bottom line is those without the proper education end up working to make the dreams come true of the educated ones. Be thankful you have a job. Continue your education. Keep moving forward. Those that bitch about the minimum wage, and have no desire to move up the education ladder, well, will continue down that path for the rest of their lives. It's ok. The world needs ditch diggers too.

Poor Eulogy. I am honestly sorry you had absolutely no one in your life teach you the importance of an education. I was unaware you were the one person that was not told.

Do you understand that your personal experiences may not be universal?
