Bram, we still haven't heard from you.

What do you think of the new album?

There are a few high points, but overall a pretty boring album. Will not sell well. MTAE was a better album.

Also, album is forgettable. However I'm glad he is still bringing out music even if it is this safe.

so I am completely wrong to assume this fall / christmas selling business would be a good time to finally spit out any of the reissued old material he's sitting on?

didn't we get a reissue around the time the last new release dropped?

no clue what shelf the Machina reissue went to, but they already pressed some other announced project stuff like a year back, gish era demos on vinyl or some such?

I can't shit on the guy for repeating a phrase, he's been doing it for his entire career to varying degrees - see stuff like Hello Kitty Kat and Bodies. The difference is in how he managed to convey emotion back when everything he was communicating was urgent and vital compared to laid back folksy delivery like he's doing here.

And I'm okay with that because he at least seems to be trying to communicate something. Lyrics like "I haven't given up, I'm just the archer for the sun", etc seem like they're coming from an earnest place where he's actually sitting back and realizing he doesn't shit gold bricks anymore, recognizing that he can't hit his old heights, maybe that using the SP name to push his solo works is futile. That's way more interesting to me than the last decade of communicating fucking nothing at all.

Sure, it may be boring or toothless but coming from a paunchy guy wearing healing crystals and running a tea shop, it's no more than what I expect. Fits who he is now way more than trying to awkwardly push whatever geriatric cynical half-complete embarrassing dancehall shit Momuments was all about to try and top the charts. He's got to know by now his name alone won't sell records so I don't think he's bothering. Good on him.

Anyway, if nothing else maybe this will convince Billco to stay the everliving fuck away from Howard Willing forever.

If nothing else, maybe the album sales number will keep him away from releasing elevator tunes, there is still hope!

Is the betting pool open yet? what was the sales number for MTAE first two weeks? this will sell less, is my bet.

MTAE barely cracked the Billboard top 40, debuting/peaking at #33... and that was under the SP name.

I'd figure that this will debut/peak at around #55 or so.

Right, I forgot this hasn't the SP brand name on it. Well then betting is off, I guess!

Monuments only debuted at 33? hell, that's shit... I wonder why Oceania charted so much better. I think debuted at 5, which is pretty respectable.

Perhaps it was more cohesive, but Monuments had the better songs.

You are all out of your minds, first to listen to those albums and then to argue which ones are better.

I am going to see Boris.

I win the out-of-your-mind contest.
I can't even get past the first god awful track on this album, and still am set on making my way through it eventually. why? I have no idea.

what's it called. zowie. it's physically painful to listen to it. try that one took, it's in a way a hardcore listening experience!

literally every song title, including the name chosen for the album, are nonsensical, forgettable and interchangeable

the songs are pretty good though. definitely Billy's strongest effort since TFE. some material on here i genuinely like, and that's came as a huge surprise to me. i think the intent and what he's saying in these songs is very clear. it's a statement from where he's at in life. i respect it.

fuzzy is right. Oceania was boring and bloated. No hooks, bad guitar tone. Monuments at least had some catchy songs (Tiberius, One and All, Monuments, Dorian).
