Default first new SP songs with JC behind the kit in 8 years...

... why aren't people talking about this?

This one in particular, has a Glass House Zwan vibe, and one of the strongest hooks Corgan has written in years...

These aren't half bad either...

Does anyone even give a flying fuck about the MUSIC being made under the SP banner anymore? Or is everyone here just pathologically hard wired to dismiss anything being made by Corgan, Chamberlin, et al? Just curious, because you all, as a community, absolutely fascinate me. Such a miserable place.

I'd be the first to admit that MTAE was a shitshow. But there have been enough glimmers of genius in the live 2007-08 shows, some of the more experimental TBK material, and the more emotional cuts on Oceania to keep me at least rooting for the guy. Once in a while, he can still write a good song and deliver it with passion and be better than 99% of the kids out there. Once in a while.

Fuck it.

if you'd give a fuck about looking at the page you just posted on, you'd find two mega threads where all these songs have been posted and are being discussed.

http://forums.netphoria.org/showthread.php?t=183619

cardinal rule got its own thread when it was a new song - in 2015.

now who's miserable? happy to help!

I got excited when I read the thread title.

Opened up thread to find the same crappy low quality songs we've already heard. :/

I assumed it was some April Fools nonsense. Still, it was still nonsense, so I was not disappointed.

these songs all get a big "MEH" rating from me
nothing memorable in any of them.

Me too. 'Spaniards' is about on par with 'Widow Wake My Mind.'

I am enjoying Spaniards. Catchy with a good chorus and the end is really nice.

This music is not SP. Just like Paul McCartney releasing a new song is not The Beatles.

Paul just doesn't need to use his old bands name to sell tickets

Billy bitching about not wanting to be a legacy act and tour on old music is a big joke considering that's the only reason ppl buy tickets today. So they can see Billy and an Asian guy play old songs

Spaniards has a lot of potential but whatever the fuck they are doing on those solos it is not working. They're not synchronized at all.

Agreed. Jeff and Billy dueling solos have been some of the highlight of 2.0+ (imo). this one is kinda... loose... less structure. less interesting.

it seems like a jam right now, with a couple of verses. no matter how much you love it now, if it were to be recorded it wold be totally different from what you hear now.

Spaniards is okay. It has extraordinary potential to be vastly improved and then completely fucked over in the studio.

Considering Bill had James play on the unreleased song, what ar the stakes we get to hear James on the next record and future SP line up?

I'd say - high!

same, Amarinthine and the one he only did acoustic at presets, Bless Me (also like Cardinal Rule but that one was played in 2015, I don't count it as new-new.)

the one live verson I heard of Spaniards somehow makes my skin crawl.

take me as I aaaam - Celine Dion meets stadium-Muse for an afternoon kiddy show in Las Vegas. Can't take it.

And both are BC solo acoustic. Could it mean something?

Cardinal Rule is easily my favorite of this bunch, but the only 'new' song that I've fallen in love with is the leaked Machina-era track Strength In Numbers. I genuinely love this song, and it's not even the full version.
