thanks! only now got around to listen to this. i liked this one much better than the other one you crowned their best song, actually. i like how it drives relentlessly but uses this skewed beat - really unusual and coll.

most people will say Source Tags and Codes is their best album but I think I like Worlds Apart equally. I would download them both and just listen to them a bunch. This band is a slow burner for me. I liked them when I first heard them like 5 years ago, and every few months I come back to them and like them more.

Source Tags is more like low fi fuck you we fucking rock

Worlds Apart is more like let's try to say some meaningful things.

I actually think So Divided is the underdog of their discography. So many great tracks but as I recall, everyone hated it when it was released.

I mean come on...the title track alone...

Can't really recall this album tbh, I will have to give it another shot. I've been listening to them a lot lately and just read that Conrad Keely thinks Tao of the Dead is their best album. I had never heard it so I listened and I don't get it. It definitely has some good songs but overall it just doesn't have as much going for it as the other albums by them I have heard.

Tao is kind of out-there and a little to prog/over-indulgent. Lost Songs is kind of a return to their roots in a way. Haven't heard the one they released a few years ago.

So Divided came out a year after Worlds Apart and it's more psychedelic/classic rock-influenced to my ears. Most fans loathed it at the time, which is a shame, because it's a great album in its own right.

Tao took awhile to click with me, but I'm really into it now. I can see why Conrad feels it's an achievement. Putting the entire 1st disc in the same key was genius, and it rumbles and flows and ebbs and explodes in all the ways they do best, until the whole piece begins to feel like the perfect Trail song, stretched to 40 minutes or so

Then disc 2 is just like get yer bongs out, kiddos, we're gonna hit 10/10 tonite

This one came up on the ol' 'Pod just now. Truly a "How did *that* get in there?" kinda moment.

Like, remember all of those bands who got signed because they vaguely resembled Nirvana? Republica were clearly signed because Garbage.

I listened to the Republica song and was instantly reminded of Elastica...

It was either that or the Shampoo song
