Pile - A Hairshirt of Purpose
https://pile.bandcamp.com/album/a-hairshirt-of-purpose
Strong contender for album of the year. Pile is sort of a post-hardcore band from Boston and this is a really mellow, introspective album and deserves all the praise it can possibly get.. There are three rockers and the rest is fucking gorgeous. Check out the song Leaning on a Wheel for starters. |

cool. you'll like the previous ones too I'm sure, 'you're better than this'. it's much more riff-based.

I like this a lot. Thanks for posting. What else do you guys like in this vein? I don't know a lot of post-hardcore but I like Unwound.

oxbow is a band you could loosely file under noise rock or post hardcore or whatever, but their last albums are somewhat mellower too. I really like the one from this year, the thin black duke: https://oxbowofficial.bandcamp.com/a...hin-black-duke Poino was definitely one of the more original / noise rock / hardcore-ish bands of the last few years. anyone remember Giddy Motors? This was Gavericks band after that. I think they were even better than Giddy Motors. Amazing all round, really https://poino.bandcamp.com/album/bon-ick-voyeur of course you could also check out the basics, like the Jesus lizard, Shellac. I prefer the weirder stuff usually. And Slint of course |

I like Spiderland a lot. Haven't got around to Tweez yet. I also like The Jesus Lizard but don't know them super well. I guess I didn't know either were considered post-hardcore bands? Probably because I've only ever listened to them and never really read about them. Anyway, thanks for the recommendations. I'm looking forward to checking this stuff out.
