I LOVED THE HELL OUT OF GUARDIANS 2.
Pure cinematic crack cocaine

completely exceeded my expectations. Probably my favorite Marvel movie... MAYBE my favorite comic book movie (Dark Knight with Heath Ledger is an entirely different animal) and certainly one of the greatest sci-fi action films ever made. Plus they made really good use of 3D, which I'm not usually a huge fan of. See it IMAX 3D if you can. Stay until very end of credits... lots of extras.

i haven't watched a Guardians movie at all yet, but read a review that says
a) the movie basically starts out at it's peak and gradually fades after that
b) that it's too packed, content wise (see lots of extras comment)

just interested to hear how your angle on that differs.
i might watch it too
not really a huge comic book guy so those characters don't appeal much to me

i think i will watch 'stand and deliver' this week. it's basically a latino version of 'lean on me' (also based on a true story), except it came out before 'lean on me'. i was not aware olmos had been in/directed so many movies that obviously were inspiration for more mainstream films. and it's cool to know lupe ontiveros by name since i've seen her in so much.
