mostly cos they were a central band in getting me into "alt music" i guess
I'll forgive you. And you can trust me, we generally share the same taste. Those two bands are the type that I respect for what they did for the music I actually love, but personally don't actually like many of their songs. Add Zeppelin to that list, and I guess (sigh) Sonic Youth.

haha that's funny cause to me Sgt. Pepper's is definitely the most overrated Beatles album. different strokes for different folks

it's probably their most famous one. i got into it (kinda) cuz i was into anything related to lsd at the time. but a lot of bands' most famous album isn't their best. (sd>mcis, yo) i just heard too much of the early beatles from my dad to ever want to delve into their discography. which album of theirs do you like the best?

if one has to be overrated it's gotta be Abbey Road

it changes honestly. They are one of those bands where I love them too much to have a permanent favorite. Maybe Rubber Soul at this point in my life. The album cover even looks like smoking weed.

But I also ride hard for the White Album which is probably the least cohesive thing they did but has IMO a lot of their best songs

I think Abbey Road is less overrated to me because the quality of the material is better.

slightly unrelated, but the Naked version of Let it Be is actually quite good and gives a highly underrated (or rather misguidedly maligned) album a new life. The version of the title track on Naked is fucking epic, like the guitar solo is orgasmic

Rubber Soul is one cool album cover. I like flashback inducing artwork.

in terms of artistic achievement I might say

Abbey Road > Revolver > White Album > Rubber Soul > MMT > Sergeant P > Beatles for Sale > Hard Day's Night > Let it Be > Help > their earlier albums

it wasn't a "point" that's objectively how i react when someone tells me they don't like certain things. if you don't have anything you like enough to not understand why someone else wouldn't, that's your deal i guess

i know the popular answers are bug, green mind, or you're living all over me, but my favorite is either where you been or farm. i heard where you been first so it's delicious nostalgia for me and imo has no bad tracks and farm was there for some rough times. every single album has indispensable tracks for me though, except the first and two most recent albums. and tbh i only like the tracks where j mascis is the singer.

Farm is really pretty fucking great. Good to see some older alt bands can still make relevant music.

Side bar: Dinosaur Jr. doing Just Like Heaven is probably one of my top three favorite cover songs of all-time.

Yeah, but they were already 'old' in 2009.

J Mascis strikes me as one of those people who was just born old.
