Default I wish Adore was just an album of sad acoustic and/or piano songs

Corgan was definitely right that after the bombast of MCIS that was the only direction the band could go

The techno stuff is lame as shit though

I've been really depressed lately and as such I've really grown to love Adore. But still can't stand YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY WHOOOORE

The electronic elements are such an integral part of Adore. It's hard for me to even envision what the album would be like if you took that element out.

Ava Adore is an underrated song (here at least). I think maybe it gets lost sometimes between the hits and the fan favorites. But that there is a great jam.

I think it's Perfect as is. I Adore it and it makes me Tear up just thinking about it being any different.

Surely there are acoustic/piano versions of all songs, yet Billy probably left some off the reissue. Otherwise, check out what's in the reissue—some not so electronic versions.

I love Annie Dog, honestly. Billy's vocals are really nice on it; he sounds sort of nonchalant and passive, it's cool.

plus no techno bullshit. whoever's drumming on this is great (matt cameron i think?)

Idk to me there's something grating about his vocals on that track. And I barely even notice the drumming. I love the way he sings on B!TNM and Appels though.....Adore is hit or miss with me and I have to be in a pensive mood. I'm more of a crunchy guitar fan

Like a lot of the deeper cuts on that album, it took me several years to gel with that one.

The rough, 4am delivery from bill is one of the many things I love about Annie Dog...but I agree it's grating. Kinda like TOASE, you're either down with it or not, and everything else about the song is secondary

I think Annie Dog is probably the best song on the album.
Compelling theme, really doesn't slow down the album at a critical time, engaging mid-tempo beat, and some of the best piano work this side of Thelonius Monk.

An acoustic Adore... nah. Adore is perfect. The acoustic meets electronic elements is what makes Adore great. That balance. An all acoustic Adore would be boring after a while. I wasn't too thrilled when Billy recently announced a solo acoustic album. You can throw Rick Rubin's name around, ain't gonna help.

When I hear someone throw the term "techno" around as a derogatory term, I just imagine some aging 50 year old wanking guitarist in leather pants whining about "those dumb silly kids with their techno thingamajigs making bleep bloop blop sounds thinking it's real music, it ain't real music if it ain't made with a guitar."

When listening to Adore, techno is the last word that comes to mind.

Wait, seriously? I think the piano on For Martha is leagues above. And that's just in Adore, don't get me started on Machina 2

And yeah I don't think Adore is all that techno-y either. Just some electronic elements. But techno calls to mind auto tune, sampling, and pounding beats that aren't present in Adore.

I was being sarcastic, for me that song is the album's low point. A low point foreshadowed by Crestfallen. Dude should stay off the keys. They aren't so bad on
For Martha and I like them on Behold! but I still, he is better off with a guitar or synth.

it was the last song for me to understand\like on that record, but now i love it.

this thread made me remember just how much that record means to me. still probably rate it highest on the SP back catalogue.

Aside from the obvious standout tracks, Adore is an album of glorified demos.

When you listen to the Reissue, the only differences between a final version and a demo/rehearsal version are either con-comped vocals or a slightly different drum program. It's telling when you listen to, for example, take 10(!) of Annie Dog and he's still yelling out chord changes.
