Default Two Songs I wish Corgan would official release

1) Lonely is the Name

Here is an archived fan appreciation thread for Lonely is the Name:

http://forums.netphoria.org/showthread.php?t=171704

2) Shadowland

Why??? Does he let such awesome, beautiful songs fade into the void?

Billy, for the love of God, if you are reading this, please release these gems! Some of the best stuff you've ever made are your b-sides.

He feels people don't deserve it. There was too much hate about the Teargarden project...

SHADOWLAND I had also in mind to be worth to release.

LONELY IS THE NAME was the track documented for hours in its recording by KERRY BROWN. Found it more interesting in its early stage. This mix is lame...

Wow, I remember watching that live. Such a waste the song never was released. Also, the kid dancing around with the mask was funny.

P.S. I believe Lonely with better mixing (especially vocals) could have been the best song from Corgan since MSOTS.

Completely agree.

Of all the unreleased Corgan/SP material I think the songs from that era had the highest potential to make up a pretty great record. It's so disappointing.

Shadowland
Lonely is the Name
Make It Happen
Into the Light
When the Cocks Crow

Some of my favorites.

also i remember this quote from his confessions

Quote:
I look for ways to help him, and notice if I give him too many details after a take, he plays worse and worse, overburdened by thought…also, he doesn’t play well if you criticize him openly particularly, or directly, but responds really well to overall grand concepts and encouragement…the general feeling for me when I work with Jimmy is one of true honor…he will absolutely kill himself and play his fingers to the bone trying to get you what you want musically, if you will walk with him thru the darkness of the whole ordeal…take after take strips Jimmy of his natural confidence, and I try to stay in the spot with him, reminding him of how far we have come, and how we are both going to get there
go to the ride after the chorus......actually wait i mean the hat, stay on the hat after the first chorus then after the second chorus stay on the ride to set up the solo, then go to the hat after the solo

Invincible was amazing when I heard it live at one of those preshow sets in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm not sure there is even audio of that song anywhere.

Another one I really liked was from Billy's 1st solo tour - Bit 5.

This was better than all the songs on the actual album (TheFutureEmbrace), yet it was never released. I just don't get it. He's such a damn genius so I'm just perplexed as how he would not put these out. Like Grox said, must be spite.

This was one of my favourite songs of the era at the time. Listening to it now, feeling mildly nostalgic.

It still holds up well, but virtually none of the other songs from this era do. Not that they ever did, mind you. If this song was among an albums worth of equally good quality songs, then post-reunion Pumpkins might have been worth listening to.

There are a couple of other unreleased songs from this era which I really enjoyed too. Make It Happen comes to mind.

I was really excited for lonely is the name the first time I saw those videos of them working on it. It seemed like a cross between something off Machina and the pre-gish college rock/goth stuff. It just seemed so pumpkins to me.

For a second, it made me think things were coming together again. The first time I heard the live version though, I was bummed because the vocal melody seemed to just... not do much. But listening to that demo above, I think it really works now. It compliments the dense, dreamy instrumental well by leaving some space. Fuck. Why didn't he finish this one? Oh well, the production would dragged it down anyway.

A cool shoegazeish song that would’ve been ruined in the studio by thin Teargarden guitar tone and Mike Burns beating the tubs like an ape

Fuckin' hell I would love to hear a studio cut of Chrysanthemum or at the very least a really good soundboard mix. When Billy was still active on twitter and fielding questions related to the re-issues he stated there's a studio recording of Chrysanthemum that would be included on the re-issue, few years overdue now...
