Default new trader/collector

Hi there,

I'm a new trader/collector but long time fan (used to have a huge digital collection back when the SPAA was up on that Netherlands server). Anyway, it's been a very long time since I last collected and my life has changed quite a bit. I'm interested in acquiring a large collection and I'm willing to pay well for it. Please message me if you are interested.

Thanks,
MS

Anyone else starting to get suspicious about all these new accounts trying to buy stuff or asking for links to commercially available stuff.

Just something to think about.

Hi there. Just about anything and everything.

I'm in the market for test pressings of all the vinyl albums.
I've bought all the imports I could find and would be excited to build the bootleg/live collection part--especially whatever is not available on the extensive archive/zomb sites.
Would especially love original/high-gen of all the early (86-91) material (live shows, demos, studio recordings, etc.).
Hmm... I'd pay $25,000+ for a Machina II
Anything else I should be looking for?

I wouldn't be too suspicious about me I've been a very, very long time fan and have broken my back to see BC perform over the years. It's a bit sad to see their decline but I am hopeful for a comeback. I'm the lead bidder on this cassette:

anyone have an opinion?

you can look at pics and details of the collection items I'm selling on spfreaks.com

25.000 for Machina II? that's not exactly the current value, but we can talk about that.
I hear for 75k you can buy the entire SPcamp, you should mail them an offer.

that's the bonus cassette that came with the pisces iscariot reissue from a couple of years ago. value: basically worthless. not more than $31: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P6PLDI

the original demo cassette wasn't red.

the cassette alone is indeed worthless.
the entire package (4 discs and this cassette gimmick) is a 2012 release, less than $40 for all of it, so $3 is the top limit for the cassette alone. you can buy entire SP cassette collections for less than what you are offering for this one.

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/TOCP-71238
"Non Japan-made disc. Deluxe edition of "Pieces Iscariot" release from The Smashing Pumpkins. 14 original tracks feature the latest digital remastering. This edition includes a bonus CD with 17 unreleased tracks, a DVD with 24 live tracks, a cassette with 6 demo tracks. Also comes with liner notes by Billy Corgan and a booklet with unreleased photos."

yeah, ms, that's not funny at all. it's not a 1988 tape. that's a rip-off.

and it's not a good addition to your collection either, in my opinion. just get the whole thing (pisces iscariot reissue box set) instead, i'd say.

it is suspicious. as far as i know, the market has entirely collapsed. quite weird to suddenly see people interested in sp collectibles.

i'm thinking about it, but i can't think what could be behind this.
should we be careful? is it a trap?
is there some evil mastermind behind this? ("oh, i know it, i'll throw a couple of hundreds at some sp collectibles. muhahahaha! the world is mine.")

my first thought was that mshkreli is the seller of that red cassette. (and probably the high bidder too.)

but that was just because that kind of person pops up every now and then. it's always good to keep that possibility in the back of your mind.

i had a second look at that ebay seller, and this scenario doesn't really work out.

speaking of collecting - have you decided yet if you're going to start selling your collection(s) or the doubles?

I'm starting to think it's either sell this year, or have it buried in my basement until garage sale day 2020, $1 each item...

Is it idiotic (or wishful thinking) to assume that a hall of fame induction might change the current value of SP collectables a bit?

i haven't decided anything.

i think you're right, though. $1 each item in 2020.

Hi Bram, I hope you're well. I forgot who the owner of splra.org was, do you know? I'm wondering when it'll be back up.

Also, I'm still trying to get hold of the demo cassettes, specifically but not limited to the moon tape and the self titled. Do you know anyone who wants to sell them?

Cheers,

Matt

edit: that was meant to be a PM but I can't send you any.

Hi Matt,

splra.org: http://forums.netphoria.org/showthread.php?t=181757

No idea where one could find (real) demo cassettes. Good luck tracking them down.
