Definitely some bad vibes spilling over from Adore - anger at fans, the music scene, the industry and made him bitter at moments, but I feel it fed the performances I saw. They were super tight and the music was furious.

One of the oddest moments in Smashing Pumpkins history, and a rare look at just how frazzled their relationship as band mates was at that point.

For context, James complained through that whole show about feeling sick from eating bad lobster. He talks about it between songs. At the beginning of the time you marked, Billy mentions that James threw up backstage. My guess is James wanted to skip the encore and get back to his room, but Billy pushed for an encore.

But it was too late. It was already public. The album was going out. So I did what I always did: try to make the best of a situation and start covering up. Put on a good face. he's referring to a noise gate, right? basically just saying the sound from james's playing there sounds kinda sloppy/noisy

I enjoyed the better part of the 2000 gigs - including Melissa, the two-part acoustic and electric set, dresses, and the general aggressive "fuck us and fuck you, we are done" act. Corgan's end of show banter - thanking the fans for years of support - were the sweet counterpart, and seemed genuine.

Plus Europe hadn't had a chance to hear Chamberlin live since 97, that alone made up for any not so great song performances.
