Sadly, no. I thought my “angry internet troll” persona would be a turn on.

Linda several times responded to my comments positively, even gave likes. Some she disliked she erased. Maybe for being too provocative.
Which wasn't so unusual as she even erased some of her Instagram pictures after a while.

What I found strange was that in my short time on her Instagram she never responded to Clay Tuckett. Though he several times asked her questions in his comments.
She doesn't think he is too weird...?

I cued the exact moment in this Youtube clip. It's the only time on record since the reboot that he's ever kind of sang in the old way

He tries a little bit to replicate it on Marching on, but he nails it on this little part.

It's amazing how much better this song sounds in comparison to Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol 1 Songs for a Sun of a Sailor or whatever in gods name that abomination of an album is called.

I swear the whole thing came from him being embarrassed by a vocal coach.

I’m not convinced FOL isn’t a MII demo

Listening to the cue up of this song, I thought it might be interesting, but then I listened to the whole thing and it is aimless. FOL is no GLOW.

I think he damaged his voice permanently from screaming through 1000 shows with the original band, and that is why he had to go to a vocal coach to begin with.

I don't think one coach could embarrass him into changing his vocal style after literally everyone including his dad told him his voice sucks and he managed to launch a hugely successful rock band around it. And over time, he just went deeper and deeper into his purposely ugly nasally voice and was only met with more success.

I'm basing this theory on the quote where Boz says he went to a vocal coach and she told him he was singing completely wrong (circa Adore, I believe). I think that this triggered Billy's fear of looking amateurish like James and D'arcy, so he changed the way he sang to appeal to professionals rather than his audience.

The only time I think his singing truly sounds terrible is when he's dropping consonants, which ironically seems like the time he's trying to sing technically well.

for all the shit talking he's done about james's and darcy's shortcomings, the pumpkin's weakest element has always been his nasal drone.

This is why I had to laugh my ass off at Billy when he kept harping on how D’Arcy might not be ready to play at the level needed for the SAOSB tour. His singing was god awful in at least half the clips I saw. Who even cares really if the bass is sloppy? It’s the pumpkins. You can’t even hear it half the time. But Billy’s voice is kind of hard to miss. Like a turd in the punch bowl.

Darcy's too real, too down to earth, too candid for his fake ass.

She would have held up fine if they focused on becoming a band again and playing a short tour of clubs and small venues before trying to make new music. Instead he went for the cash and self indulgent extravaganza. Bleurgh, so happy I stopped caring a long time ago.

billy's voice was the perfect counter-point to the music & the best voice for the songs in the 90s

i figured that, given this is a Smashing Pumpkins message board, that would be understood by default, but apparently not!

you're striking out, Fool

i like his old voice but i still realize that it sucks ass, especially live.

i remember telling ppl that tsp was my favorite band back in the day. i would always immediately get embarrassed and say something like "i know his voice is awful" or "it's pretty juvenile stuff" etc etc

i live in a world of shame

I agree with you hard, here. Billy's voice has gotten so terrible that it's almost a deal breaker now. He lacks dynamic range and has become something of a one trick pony in regards to his singing. There's no energy, no intensity, no emotion in it anymore. It's almost monotonous.
