i talked to my professor today about all this shit and, basically, the best way to explain it is I'll get to be Jonathan Melvoin next semester -- not quite in the band but I get to play onstage every night as well as play drums during Silverfuck
(but I don't get to do heroin with Jimmy C cause JC is graduating this year) (woah the analogy is breaking down very hard. i'm tired lol) v v v happy though |

my thesis adviser just read the last draft of my paper and said: "Erica,
I’ve read your latest draft, and it is shaping up very nicely. I have only minor comments, which you can see on the attached document. It’s really a high-quality paper. We don’t need to meet until after you send me your next draft." almost everything he commented on was grammar and word choice suggestions, and there was nothing he didn't like. dude i'm stoked. 11658 words right now. prob gonna end up about 14-15,000. i think the biggest paper i ever wrote before this was about 5200 words |

goddamn, fuck me
i have a stupid preliminary presentation on friday for a group project. i can't go because i made plans with a friend to go to a concert in chicago. i'm not a normal person where that's like a casual thing; i've been looking forward to this for months girl in the group messaged me saying i had to email our professor telling him why i can't go to the presentation. which is fucking bullshit because: last presentation a month ago, i went, she didn't, half of our group didn't. it was autumn holidays and they went home. i didn't. i fucking stayed for the cause |

and here i am freaking out over my admissions essay to university of chicago. i was accepted to loyola for the spring and given a $14,000 renewable yearly scholarship, but i am resubmitting my application for the fall because u of c only accepts for the fall and that's my top choice in chicago. my boss told me he was good pals with the admissions director, but he (admissions director) died recently or else he would have put in a good word, haha. but today during lunch i learned my boss know the director or some big dog at the harris school (the public policy wing of u of c); he told me to do some research on the guy and the program and then he could set up a meeting. oy. |

Got my grades back for the semester. 2 As and a D-
GPA is at 3.24, which is really good for my uni and major. It's tough here Honestly, I was more concerned with personal development this semester. Got an apartment for the first time, got my shit together enough to ask a girl out, attempted to manage money and be a functional adult |

i am taking a break during spring while i take one class (calculus), work, and apply for the university of chicago (and loyola, UTA, UTD, USC, and LMU - two in chicago, two in texas, two in california). i will also either take drum lessons or volunteer at the shriver poverty center. maybe both? |

i felt the same way at times. but i made the mistake of taking it as an online class. i figured i would have more time to study and get it, but it was mostly just awful to not have any feedback. i killed myself studying and i'd struggle through homework and would do so poorly on tests.
chapter tests were online and at the end we'd get our score, but not see what questions we got wrong. how the f am i to know what i need to study? i bombed my first proctored midterm with a 60 and came home crying. i think i posted about that. |

lol yes
also hi. bumping this thread to ruminate on thoughts. also i hope jeff won't be on this world tour My broadcasting class is going really well, I'm filling out forms to get an internship doing more of that stuff, and I'm taking a class over the summer where basically I get to broadcast baseball games 3-4 nights a week. Fuck yeah Need to change majors though (as in like I have a meeting tomorrow about it) because I have no hope in CS because it is bad. Thinking history maybe. ahhh |

It's really hard; the department at my university is basically cruel to students. Seems like to actually graduate you have to be "passionate" about it which I'm not. I mean, I can code, and I have a minor in it with all the classes I took, but I generally can't stand it.
What's horrible is I keep second guessing myself. I know for a fact that I couldn't stand most of the classes, but I keep thinking back to the good times I had and overexaggerating them because I'm nervous about switching. The good times had fuck all to do with CS anyway, they were just the moments between classes, doing college stuff. I'm sure I'm smart enough to do it, I just...can't, somehow. Sorry, this isn't an answer, I'm just typing words because I'm scared |
