Seeing Billy holding a power drill looks very unnatural.

It does

I've tried but for some reason it's both a hard watch and very interesting

The same guy leaked A 4 hour long Faith No More video from the Angel Dust sessions which is amazing and has stuff in it I never heard before about songwriting and why Jim Martin was kicked out of the band.

Well, I finally watched it today. As Ram was saying, it's super fascinating and mind numbing at the same time. Very weird to feel like a fly on the wall during those sessions.

i've watched it all the way thru several times, and lately i've had it on and listened to it while i work. it's really great. besides including an incredible version of porcelina, i really like how it's just a couple of normal, long work days for the band. they're in a good mood though, i love all the jokes and back and forth. like inviting johnny winter to the studio and giving him a xylophone. "lack of cots." or "a dog's mouth is cleaner than a person's mouth? ...yeah, I often pick up rolled around bones and chew on them for a while" at the end. jimmy asks billy "is chris home?" billy's like "huh?..." and then he just says "NO." billy showing d'arcy where to play during xyu.

but yeah the performance of porcelina here is amazing, it's probably my favorite out of the 100s i've heard/seen. early, darker downtuned xyu is great too. it has a different vibe than the final version, less frantic. i like how laconic the vocal is- "you're, so, cray-zay"

For sure. It most definitely pulled back the curtain on the mythic level I held them at when I was a teenager. Also, it's really weird seeing footage of the band now where they're younger than I am now.

Having heard the music from it so many times, it's those more mudnane moments that make the video so special. It shows that, for a brief moment in time, the four of them actually appeared to enjoy each others' company. Some moments that always stick out in my mind:

-Billy and the power drill
-Billy and James laughing with Flood in the studio
-Billy's "power to the people" rant when the band starts rehearsing "Zero."
-Billy getting on Jimmy's case about being a fraction of a second to fast when playing "Zero" (the whole video really shows that D'arcy, James, and Jimmy had the patience of saints to work with Billy as long as they did).
-The Johnny Winter xylophone comment (and James' impression of Winter)
-D'arcy struggling to learn the album's most basic bass parts
-D'arcy drinking from a red cup the entirety of the video
-Billy talking when Jimmy and D'arcy are tracking rhythm parts. He says something along the lines of "I don't see a song like this making the final album."
-Billy talking about "The Boy" and playing the riff for a few seconds
-Billy picking his nose

I love when Jimmy and D'arcy were tracking drums for Zero and Billy's in the control room..."We're only to this part?.....pretty sad!"

And let's not forget:
-D'arcy UNMASKED

You seldom get pictures from her without makeup, if not for a mug...

yeah Billy's comments in the control room when Jimmy & D'arcy are playing are hilarious. "no one here gets out alive."

porcelina begins at 27 min

"that boy song that james wrote"

billy mentioning that he has "this real 70s song" (by starlight), and that it would be cool to do a flexidisc or something where they go all in on the sound/vibe of a certain era.

Ohh so By Starlight was the 70s song

I love that they tuned Jimmy's snare to the pitch of the keyboard that was playing on 2 and 4

It happens a few time during the Paton interview. Turns out Jim was never there. They couldn't find him. This interview was the first day any of them had seen him. Paton is the best part he dosesn't give a shit and just says whatever he wants.

they didn't change the tuning, it was run through a resonator effect on the alesis quadraverb I believe. n00b

If it wasn't this, I'd probably waste my life on something else. Likely with worse drumming

The thing I remember most is rehearsing Zero...

::band starts the song::
::Billy shakes his hand and/or head and looks at Jimmy::
"Too Fast"
::band starts again::

JIMMY: You start it.

BILLY: I know I do!
