Question Rude or Normal??

So my brother has a new girlfriend. she's 18, senior in high school, he's 20. He's been a bad boy the last couple years but I thinks he's mellowed him out even though it's only been a couple months.

anyway, she's nice. But I"m wondering if what occured today was rude or merely what normal people do. It's like 2:30, i'm at home editing my essay and there'es a knock on the door. it's the gf and her friend. I'm like "Hi! What's up! Tim's not here." So she's like oh we're here to visit you! I'm like oh um ok come on in. so i'm welcoming and whatnot, but it was still unexpected and weird. but at first i was like cool maybe she needs advice or something and i'll be open about everything blah blah but she's just talking about everything. just talking about herself, her friend's not saying anythign and she stays for 2 HOURS!!! WTF. and after 1.5 hours she's all oh am i interrupting anything? I was like umm well i was just editing my essay... but it's ok... and she just kept on going. i couldn't believe how much she could talk about NOTHING. her dog... her sisters.. wow. i mean i want to encourage her to like me so she can come to me if she has problems, but it just seemed a little intrusive. and her friend was just sitting there. But i dunno. do people do this? Is that normal?
