So obsessed with this band right now. Thought we should talk about a good band here, seeing as this board is full of shit. So fucked I am missing them on tour, I am so in Devoto's world right now. One of a kind.

REAL LIFE

But honestly, all the first 3 albums are spectacular. Give all of them a few listens, they are all different.

Real Life and Correct Use of Soap are excellent

I've always thought Secondhand Daylight was a bit lesser by comparison but it has a few great songs at least, I should listen to it again, it's been a while

Yeah Secondhand daylight is a bit of a departure, I think that's nice to have in their catalogue though, Darker and more foreboding (It certainly suits the mood of Devoto's musings). Im finding the albums fairly even now, I have listened to all of them a lot over the past few weeks. On a related note, anyone got Devoto's solo album?

This band is changing my life. They make 90% of music look trivial. Absolutely fucking genius and unique. I haven't listened to a band so much in a few months, only Killing Joke.

Music isn't real anymore. Time for a fucking revolution, not all this bollocks post post-punk. I need some like minded souls to take this shit on with me.

Why am I living in the hole of the goddamn earth?

How many bands you listen to these days that really inspire a sense of relation? Bands you will actually listen to for months on end and think, you know what these guys really make art which is timeless and relevant?

I know it has always been few and far between that stir that impression, but I don't really hear much of anything these days that gets me like that.

I know there is plenty of bands being experimental and exercising musical freedom, but im still not hearing many with great passion these days.

i pretty much dropped my irrational fanboyisms for better or for worse

i'm passionate about sounds and that's all that really matters to me

as for timelessness, i find it extremely misleading and ridiculous to brand such claims on any contemporary art - time will tell my grumpy friend

Irrational? there is nothing irrational about being passionate about good art.
I know what you are talking about, but some music/art goes beyond fanboyism when it actually says something man. Infact, that is what it is all about. Listening to music for musics sake and not for what it conveys or impassions in you is opting for a trivial path regardless of how much you listen to.

I don't think it's ridiculous at all. Art is art, no matter what forms you are playing/experimenting with. If it makes sense to me now, I'd say it is pretty timeless when being open-minded and undictated by methods. I do agree it's a pretty vague term though, but they are a group out of time, they won't stop making sense to the open-minded.

I tried playing Real Life, but was turned off by the male-Patti-Smith-to-a-T vocals.

I'm sure they're good though. I'll try again.
