i'm not particularly interested in using "musical instruments"

im interested in evocative sound by any means- sound that furthers whatever narrative happens to be unfolding at the time of composition

from my perspective, these pieces are heavily narrative

specific instrumentation, effects, plugins, etc are irrelevant

so, ehhhh

was in a bit of a rut, in terms of approaching these experimental pieces — falling back on the same plugins, structures, composition methodology, etc

in efforts to try to shake things up, instead of carefully assembling and automating a piece linearly from start to finish, i tried out a modular program that allows one to manipulate samples on the fly. in this sense, it's a performative piece where you're triggering, mixing, and doing all manner of various fuckery in real time while recording. from a listener's perspective, it's not noticeably different, but from a compositional standpoint it certainly is. there's the pressure of keeping things evolving and interesting as a whole, while managing the individual mechanisms to achieve that.

people of course do this kind of thing all the time, but it was a new endeavor here.

I'm trying to figure this out while listening to your guitar scrawl.

The tiredness sleeps inside your bones (sp ref) from here on out. Meaning starting now. Life is not promised. From here on out. The pattern (this pattern) will eventually resume.

Logically, I think that pattern is being tired? Is being tired the pattern that will resume? Because, bro, I can feel that. Getting sleepy every night (and sometimes during the day!) is just sometimes, oh man, I can't even. It's just not promised. Or its trauma.

I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT.

You are always tired. You can't be promised a life while you're asleep. The pattern will resume because that's what patterns do. You're tired and don't have a life.

Well I swear too much
I drink too many
I shoot up and smoke dope
I'm fucked up honey
I got bad habits, bad habits

And I fuck all the whores
Black and white
I molest little girls
Who are ten and tight
I got bad habits, bad habits

I'm a heighty-tighty bitch
My heart is so cold
Spend all my money
As hard as I go
I tell you a lie
Cause I'm a dirty wild bitch
I'll rape your little sister
I'm mentally unfit
