I'm pretty sure this was the salvaged idea of the huge never gotten to Djali Zwan multimedia project that was only mentioned once by Jimmy and quickly abandoned as Zwan disintegrated. |

People went nuts over it because most fans, for good reason, liked Djali Zwan more than The True Poets of Zwan and these songs were more reminiscent of the former. Plus it was a relatively drastic departure from the whole glam-rock aesthetic (but not any less pretentious, i'll admit).
The filming was fun and it was nice to shoot the shit with him for a few hours. There was a lot of discussion between takes and I had a short discussion with him about wesley willis. it was however extremely annoying whenever he abandoned a take because someone queefed or whatever. or if he noticed his guitar was out of tune, instead of tuning it himself, he'd beckon his guitar tech over to have him tune it for him. so weird. |

I like these songs. They are better than what he's put out since 2007.

These songs are amazing! He should have definitely released these instead of zeitgeist and oceania.

I didn't like the songs at first, but I didn't listen to any folk music at the time. After I'd heard a few different contemporary folk artists, I enjoyed it a lot more upon revisiting.

but these chicago songs... not my boat. they're totally a different flavor imho. the djali zwan is a lot more reminiscent of the light acoustic SP songs from their early career. Chicago songs feel like they're trying hard to be mature. big meh from me. |

They are good songs. I agree with Juliana and we're not even friends.
