yep, you're totally right, you have my whole life figured out. I clearly have been rich my whole life except for that one patch where my parents spent us into tens of thousands of dollars of debt and cheated their taxes and the IRS came after my dad and he couldn't hold down a job until I was a teenager and my mom was operating an unlicensed childcare and working three legitimate jobs so we could get by

shake my damn head

there isn't a rich/poor dichotomy at work here. you have and always have been middle class. perhaps that spectrum moved around a bit over the years but you're definitely a middle class person

i was on reduced lunch for about a year or two also, i'd never be so dumb as to consider my family "poor"

you know i forgot about scotty being "white trash"
i take it back about poor people developing a sense of humor about themselves
we've got two very bad examples here which is statistically significant

sounds more like upper middle class households and actually, from a historical perspective, that's exactly what it means

ALSO *BRIEFLY LIVING BELOW THE POVERTY LINE BY YOUR OWN ADMISSION

you know the Real Poor are from generations of poverty

I guess I just feel sensitive about it because it has more to do with my parents than me and it's something that still bothers me that they did some of the things they did when I was little which really hurt our family and it's hard for me to reconcile that with my love for them

In that case, their penchant for Olive Garden sounds charming.

Sounds like you have a good inheritance coming. The worst food they eat, the sooner its coming your way.

I can only see this as a win-win.

I would think the death of his parents would at least be a minor loss

i only read the first and last pages.

basically, you're complaining about eating one meal at a place that is borderline acceptable (to you) in order to visit with your grandparents. one meal where you have the opportunity to order whatever the fuck you want; nobody's forcing you to eat the chicken, dude. order of the kids menu for kicks. order a ton of apps and desserts. order the peach raspberry iced tea by the bucket because that shit is fucking delicious.

on the last page it seems like you're championing yourself for having lived below the poverty line at one point growing up. one would think this time of hardship would have humbled you enough to brave sharing the dining room with olive garden patrons. guess not.

im not saying the food is fantastic or that you're supposed to enjoy it or even be happy about it. but jesus christ grow the fuck up. how much negative energy have you spent on the dilemma of this meal? was it worth it?

what the fuck is wrong with the lot of you that not eating the food is not acceptable.

i'm sure a lot of you fucks would probably blanche at a dinner at IHOP or McDonalds or Jack in the Box but for some reason Olive Garden is a fucking sacred cow

When I was a baby we lived in a trailer in my grandparents backyard. My mother had a wash tub with a ringer on it. She literally had to was all our laundry by hand.

I had really poor parents and grandparents and great grandparents but now both of my parents are successful and Im mooching of them.

So do I belong to the middle class? My family is all from hickville Texas and I was born when my parents were 18.
The only reason they didn't end up on the streets is that my Dad joined the military.
