I will be honest when I say the first two HHH 7"ers changed my life.

Out of all the post punk revival bands We Are Scientists are the biggest hipsters. But that's the appeal of them.

I will never forget hearing this for the first time. That same night I discovered HHH, Black Dice, and Pg99 on a local radio show "art damage".

That actually sounds more like early WAS than what I'm used to hearing by Hot Hot Heat. WAS early stuff was noisy dance punk type stuff at times.

They got a new lead singer and another band member shortly before they got real popular and watered down their sound. I think the last release with the original lineup was the split 12" with red light sting (another great band from that time).

What did you think of What's the Word by WAS? It's right up your alley.

yech i wouldn't either

this band has always been a thorn in my side. they went from synth-drums-vox basic setup great band to adding a guitar player and getting a new lead singer.

i really liked the first guy and totally hated the new guy, which also resulted in a hit record for them. their early work circa 2000 is a classic of the genre for me.

good call, you're not missing much

good thing i have no desire to hear them ever again because they'd probably remind me of one of my exes too much anyway

someone i was living with it got a free subscription or something so they were toilet reading

it was an awful, awful magazine and this was well before i actually started to really know anything about music

i'm sure flipping through it now would give me an aneurysm.

Not to be confused with the scottish band of the same name, this band’s 2000 album “To Change the Shape of an Envelope” was the first and best to successfully marry post-hardcore and shoegaze. Gloriously so.
