This is the sense of entitlement that I've come across before, working in a kitchen. I think the only thing we served that was specifically marketed as "gluten-free" were our french fries.

I would ask customers to try and explain their specific gluten restrictions to me (just to be a dick if they deserved it) and 9 times out of 10 they couldn't. They would just keep repeating "gluten free" "gluten free" as if they didn't understand it any further than just as a buzz word/catch phrase they heard on TMZ.

And I hate to stereotype but it was always the same type of person that would make a big deal about gluten free. I think the people who really have to deal with that outside of it just being a diet - you already know what you can and can't eat. It's not my job to know your dietary restrictions. But then again some people are just completely fucking befuddled in restaurants as it is and they act like they've never encountered food before.

Five minutes later this appears on yelp

ONE STAR!!!! SHITTIEST RUDEST PIECES OF SHIT

So I thought I could go to the wheat pasta sandwich store and get a gluten-free wheat pasta sandwich but BOY WAS I WRONG!!! This bastard behind the counter said that we don't have anything that doesn't have gluten in it, even the water had gluten in it! I said but I am a customer and I am always right, i should get anything i ever wanted anywhere at any time, it's about freedom or something I forgot, anyway: THIS GUY WAS REAL UGLY TO ME. He said "we don't serve gluten-free items, i'm sorry." and his apology was TOTALLY INSINSIRE. My diet is intelligent AND ethical and places like this that don't get with the times will be left in the dust. No free wifi either! They wouldn't let my friend set up her business computer THAT SHE USES TO WORK ON, HELLO??? NEVER EAT HERE. ALSO I HEARD THEY HAVE RATS

(77 people found this cool)

yelp and pop science journalism are both up there at the top of the list of things that make having a civilization impossible.

Most of it is bullshit. i hate how people act like gluten is an evil thing for all people

that being said i'm lucky i am not. My dad is not sensitive; rather, he is seriously allergic to it. fucks him up pretty bad with bad outbreaks on his skin.
