I don't understand why all the comments on this are so negative. They are rebranding Zuzu's, from teahouse to teashop and art studio. Instead of the usual Zuzu's program - a reading or music - it's both, background sound to Hesse while you buy and drink some tea. Every other multi media art student does it, why not Corgan's teahouse?
Or is the weird thing that people with a cultural horizon like Monte buy a plane ticket and expect to sit on their ass for 8 hours?

Either way, if you do something like that, Siddhartha is a really good choice imo.

Like I mentioned before I honestly think most people are expecting "a show"

to me it's weird because it's just like an everytown usa student art project.

I find it kind of ironic that Billy is doing this. It just screams 'hipster' to me, along with that t-shirt line he started. I think it's still strange for some people to believe that Billy cares more about tea and wrestling than SP. Yeah, he says he's working on new material, but you know his priorities have changed when the SP twitter feed is full of tea or wrestling news. It's not like there isn't any SP news to share. We know Adore is done mastering, but they didn't bother to tell the fans anything this time around. At this point I'd love to hear anything at all about the Adore reissue.

What negativity? The fact that his tee shirts look like iron on transfers and are being sold for $30? Or that madam zuzus labels are made in ms word and printed on avery labels?

I like what billy is doing, but I wouldn't enjoy this in the tiny tea shop with retard sp fans. I also wouldn't want to stay the length of 8 hours.

Also, monte bought a plane tix not to sit his ass down, he bought them to stand in front of billy and mind fuck him.

But there's only "less than 5 in world!" That apparently makes it worth $30. I'm willing to bet money that Billy and co just flipped through some antique material, found some pictures he liked, and ironed them onto some shirts. He should really hire a real/talented artist every now and then.

You can DIY shit and not make it look like crap.

ESPECIALLY the labeling of stuff. They just have no design sense.
This is a biz that is trying to sell high end tea and said one of their mixes is one step higher than what the queen of england drinks.

Also, chicago is a placed renowned for their design, he could easily get a design student to do it for like a couple hundred. Billy just doesn't understand the dif.

Great skill and craftsmanship deserves to be paid. It's one area I think that businesses should splurge on, especially in this case when it comes to branding. It makes a huge fucking difference.

But Billy is self-admittedly cheap and lately tends to favor hiring friends/gfs over skilled artists. But people will still buy the stuff solely because Billy's promoting it. That's one thing he's not shy of taking advantage of. I'm kind of amazed that people even buy the antiques that Billy sells at his shop. It's like they don't realize that Billy just buys these things from local antique shows and malls and then resells them at exorbitant prices. I guess the montesque fans just cream at the thought of owning something that Billy has touched.

Why does anybody here give a fuck how shirts of a teashop look.
Yea, they are ugly. So were the last Smashing Pumpkins shirts, no surprise there.

TbK watercolor "artwork" anyone? Reissues design by mister I'mblind Waggener?

You'd think someone that started a band in their 20s with little money would have the inclination to pay some talented young artists to do their design work, given that they can now afford to and would want to support these artists.

I guess that is assuming said individual didn't get old, lose touch with their past self, and become just as miserly as the old fogies they used to swear they would never be like.
Exactly! It is infuriating that he doesn't support local arts!

Also, I care because it is my career to care about design and DIY is something I am very interested in.

James did DIY stuff for his album it turned out really cool.

This honestly reeks of a profit based business decision and not an art project. He wants publicity and he wants to gauge fans of SP.

Solo acoustic show would imply actually writing songs and presenting/performing them.

Billy throughout the 90s had a nice aesthetic, now not so much. Yelena probably had a big influence in that, though.

You know he's going to start selling tea and those t-shirts at SP shows now.

I'll give the credit to chris and james/d'arcy

I like yelena's work, but I think it wasn't for the best isolating billy more from the band. billy really should have let james/d'arcy geta hand in there...

ugh, you blame yelena as isolating billy from the band? SP was damn lucky to have her around! I don't think the issue was isolation IMO, they just got sick and tired of billy being so needy and crazy.

Also, yelena's aesthetic was from 33 on. You don't think 33 was an amazing video? Also, adore era she even dressed Billy.

Moreover, yelena is a famous fashion photographer, she photographs for vogue etc.
Now billy has a shitty scrapbooker aesthetic and gives all the reissue work to a complete hack.
