anyone here into air jordans?
when i was a kid i really liked the 4s, 5s, and 6s especially but never owned any. couldn't afford.
but now i'm really into them, nike's done a really good job of retro'ing some of these styles to play on nostalgia and keep it fresh. especially digging the LAB series, which combines an iconic part of one model on the base of another model. just got 11LAB4, which is the patent leather detail from the 11s, on the 4: also just got the 4LAB1, which is the mesh/grid detail from the 4, on the 1 was surprised to learn that the mesh is actually glow in the dark my all-time favorite though is the infra-red 6. i don't actually own these. i have them in varsity red: which is cool but not as cool as the infrared also got the jordan 6 flight club, which is a bit of a mashup: i dunno, its kind of a strange hobby/interest, but for some reason i'm kinda pumped about it. curious if anyone else here can relate.. |

in case anyone cares
here's the 11: and here's the 4: so you take the patent leather from the 11, slap it on the 4, and voila: 11LAB4 similarly, you take that mesh / grid pattern and material from the 4s, you slap them on the 1s, which look like this: and here you go, 4LAB1: Last edited by wHATcOLOR : 05-02-2015 at 04:41 AM. |

can't really get 'em anywhere, but fusion 6 was pretty interesting to me.
takes some elements of the 6, which is my favorite one, combines them w/ some elements of the 1: never seen either of these in person jordan 4 teal just came out, my friend got these: i think those are pretty great this version of the 5s comes out tomorrow, he's getting those, i like 'em but won't be getting them: those are real awesome but i gotta have some restraint here! |

I loved these growing up, owned every pair through 99. Our school provided them to everyone who played basketball so I was able to always get the newest ones.
I didn't realize they were redoing/updating them. I don't wear these type shoes anymore but I'd buy some just for nostalgia sake probably. Good thread! |

what are these kinds of sneakers like from a comfort point of view, generally? also, are they made to last? (i guess i'm talking high-end nikes rather than air jordans specifically. i'd also be interested to know about other brands if anyone has an opinion)
i've been walking a lot more over the last few months and have had to start hunting down shoes with decent arch support and good construction instead of the wear-'em-out-and-replace sneakers i used to buy. surprisingly difficult to find anything that isn't horrendously ugly |

Look into Ecco and Merril.
Every foot is different, but Nike's to me aren't great walking shoes. YMMV. |

they're very good but not incrediblyamazing on comfort. they're basketball shoes, i wouldn't buy them specifically as walking around shoes. though they are quite durable. there are more comfortable shoes out there the most comfortable pair i own are adidas pure boost -- http://www.adidas.com/us/pure-boost-shoes/M20483.html uniquely comfortable, never worn anything like it. suuuper light weight, super comfortable. i got them right before going on vacation in anticipation of walking around a lot. love 'em. they are not especially durable i imagine, because the materials are so light.. the back area of the shoe is very flimsy but it's caused me no issues because of that.. i have no real wear on them yet aside from some scuffs on the super squishy sole. from their site, it looks like they've made a few more new variants, some with more stiff upper components i think.. as sppunk said, everyone's going to feel shoes differently but for me, this is a level above anything else in comfort.. i'd recommend trying them on at least if you're able |

trouble is most merrell shoes look like they were either made for your grandfather or those urban mountainwear types who may or may not have ever spent a night in a tent, you're never sure i'd assumed the same about ecco but checking their site they have plenty of not-ugly-looking shoes. turns out there's a store here and everything. thank you |

y'all should check out SAS. they only recently started expanding their look from old people and nurse-type shoes to the same but cuter. there isn't tons to choose from, but that keeps it simple. http://www.sasshoes.com/catalog |
