My mother in law was in the hospital getting treatment for recently diagnosed leukemia (because we are in hell) and the thought most of us have is that either she or my father in law picked it up there. When she got out we went to visit which was probably not the best idea, but you know. Only my father in law and sister in law were allowed to see her while she was going through chemo but that was apparently not limiting enough.

I had a meal at IHOP because I am a dumbass and agreed to help someone with their resume and that is where they wanted to go.

Feeling almost normal. Doc had me starting taking Advair (asthma meds) again for a couple weeks, seems to have helped.

Weird how fast symptoms came and went if indeed I have it. But I had objective signs (fever and low SpO2) plus several obvious subjective ones (chills and breathing issues), so... hopefully it somehow was somatic symptoms of anxiety or something. But I wasn't really having "getting COVID-19" anxiety so it seems pretty unlikely. But I should know soon.

there's anti-maskers but there's mostly just no problem if you don't wear one.

the anti-maskers are I think aa relatively small group, I guess most of them think masks don't help.

and actually, for the first half year of the pandemic the official information was that there wasn't lots of evidence that masks actually helped and barely anyone wore them, including myself. people have luckily changed their views a bit, also including me.

chicago is back on recommended stay-at-home orders; fuck, i've already been staying at home since march. it's like tom-tom said, anyone most impacted by this new order is likely the reason we're back in this mess and at square one again (or worse)

Shutting anything down/lockdown orders with no UBI is irresponsible and authoritarian. I understand that these mayors and governors think they’re doing something but they’re literally doing nothing at all. People will continue about their lives as normal until the national government steps up. Which won’t happen until January and by then we’re fucked.

Our COVID plan is to simply let it burn. These stay at home orders are nonsense. Intense pressure needs to be put in the government to keep businesses afloat and pay UBI. Explain to me how anyone thinks it makes sense that you can go drink wine at Gavin Newsome’s wineries but you can’t have a drink on the patio of somewhere classified as a bar.

Not that I would do either, I really haven’t gone out since March, but these governors and mayors instituting “lockdowns” are a joke, as is the Senate and the President.

I don’t know how anyone can support these orders. You’re forcibly removing people’s incomes and businesses. How is that not straight up totalitarian?

The purpose of lockdowns is for a short term pause to ramp contact tracing. We aren’t tracing. So what’s the point?

Opposed to a lockdown with no UBI, no mortgage/rent suspension, no business support, without closure of all businesses that aren’t essential not just the small businesses, and no wide ranging contact tracing effort.

If you don’t do all of those things, you’re a flat out dictator who should be forcibly removed from office.
