about 3/4 thru on first listen. fucking awesome. sea change is my favorite beck album and this is definitely a companion to that. I loved how the first track sounds exactly like sea change and then the record diversifies from there

I dig it, but am not quite ready to say that it's better than Sea Change, which many folks are leaping to.
Where's this talk of it being a companion piece coming from? Is that something he's said, or just something that writers have connected? Fully agree on the opening part sounding just like "The Golden Age" - hopefully an intentional move? |

I like it a lot.
And $19.99 for a perfectly pressed double LP is absolutely okay. 4/5, would buy again. |

My new second favorite Beck album. However, in my opinion, Sea Change is still number one. It's also a shame the album is so fucking brickwalled to death for a mostly acoustic album - hopefully MSFL re-releases the album before the end of the decade.

he used most of the same band he used for the sea change. i haven't heard it yet but i'm wondering if it's supposed to be the "other side of the coin" to sea change's melancholy..
because sea change is one depressing ass album |

It's not as down beat as Sea Change. It's also not quite as good. But it's still really, really good and worth listening to. Gonna buy this one on vinyl

i wrote a "review" about it yesterday but it was just drunk rambling so i deleted it. it's definitely a worthy follow up, which is saying alot about one of the best album of the 00's. it doesn't have those drop dead moments like sea change but the instrmental interludes are even better imo.
