that's such a load of bullshit though, those chicago songs. as if anyone thought they weren't worth releasing. i really wonder where he read those comments. also, what does it even matter? i thought he was an "artist" with "integrity" and whatnot. surely such a person releases whatever they want to release, no matter what some twat on the internet thinks about it
i always thought he hadn't released it because he was disappointed with the results of his experiment (record a couple of days in a church, then do one show at the metro, no time to fool around). if he's actually happy with the results, then not releasing it doesn't make any sense.
it's like you say, starla, by the time he decides to release this, nobody will be interested anymore. just like a lot of the archive/vaults stuff: they should have started releasing stuff years ago. if they ever start this up again, it'll fall flat on its ass, as only a handful of people are interested still.
