Long time Reader, First time poster in need of a few songs...and a message to all
Its funny that I have been reading this forum on a near daily basis for the last three to four years but I have never made a post. I guess some of your comments are just funny and informative enough (albeit not lately) to keep me coming back for more.
Obv, huge pumpkins fan. I am compiling a 65 song tracklist over four cds that i will call the definitive collection of smashing pumpkins. Almost like a top 65 (the tracklisting kept expanding) but i need two songs... Bullet w Butterfly Wings Demo from Gravity (one two three...FOUR..) (thoughtd b ea nice alternative to the version everyone hears) and Do you Close your eyes. Ive had these songs in the past, and before anyone netphorically calls me an idiot for not searching i was online all morning looking for these songs. Alot of the SP audio sites are beat, and i couldnt find it in the forums. This compilation idea started a few years back when i was bored i college listening to academics drone...eh, wtf, in case anyones interested heres the tracklist i came up with...The main idea is to show in a box set format how unreal this band really was...and is...can be...etc. I welcome comments (if anyone cares, but please, keep the jokes smart, at least. So often i read stupid posts and think, "we re better than that..." in roughly chronological order: rhinoceros bury me crush drown suffer i am one (live in barcelona) window paine siva dancing in the moonlight (live) snail glynis daydream cherub rock today disarm mayonaise landslide hummer blew away rocket soma (live in london) obscured geek usa la dolly vita frail and bedazzled quiet whir hello kitty kat starla luna silverfuck mellon collie and the infinite sadness the aeroplane flies high (turns left, looks right) bullet with butterfly wings (early demo) tonight tonight jelly belly 1979 here is no why jupiter's lament beautiful thru the eyes of ruby to forgive love in the arms of sleep x.y.u. stumbeline set the ray to jerry muzzle meladori magpie fuck you (an ode to no one) galapagos a night like this (dont underrate this shit) rotten apples we only come out at night (a late edition) porcelina of the vast oceans ...said sadly by starlight farewell and goodnight To Sheila Behold! The Night Mare Do you close your eyes (demo) The tale of dusty and pistol pete Blank Page Glass and the Ghost Children Sparrow Look at the brilliance in this huge body of work. From someone who is aching for a reunion like all of his who believe in this band, lets be more positive and realize the beauty and inspiration in their work. Could someone please post those two songs i mentioned? i would really really appreciate it. Thanks netphorians. |

I take it the post-mellon-collie stuff is not up your alley. I encourage you to reconsider.
It's a good list though. |

we all love smashing pumpkins
whats so funny is that we take it for granted. Its almost like we are afraid to defend what is honestly a truly great band. i saw them in providence during machina and they gave every last bit of energy...
i looked on all the audio pages and it didnt work out. but we should unite and get them to reunite. and im not the biggest sp fan, mcmurderson is..dont worry big guy...ur trohpys safe. (kidding budddddy) funny that i *******d i am one rant...just in case people didnt quite get the rage... |

definitive in more commerical terms...
i just think i capture their spirit. i have dancing in the moonlight live, i am one live with a great billy rant, and obv the earphoria soma which is amazing...
a song like do you close your eyes is certainly one who isnt a big fan knows... i suppose its more of a complete list of my favorites but, while its somewhat sad, i could give u a reason for every song not on the list... its a major thing to ******* one song from machina...recently i had with every light and stand inside yuor love...but i thought glass captures the album. ending it with sparrow is also a calculated move. "ive often thought we were most powerful acoustic..rock power x 100" i think we ve all read that in the PI liners... i suppose more from adore should be on it, now theres a fair argument. |

Weird man, I read these forums for a long time too before signing up, takes a while to develop the sarcasm skills necessary to handle netphoria. The list seems pretty good, but more Machina / Machina II would make it great. Personally I would never be able to make a list of their definitive work, each of their songs is incredibly unique to me.

lurking for a while before posting shouldn't be seen as weird. it's simply good netiquette and should be a standard practice for all upstanding netizens.

i wanted to throw another one in there, 'cause things in threes are so satisfying, but i wasn't able to come up with a third.
