i think its a big mistake not to release doomsday as an official single
doomsday clock is so catchy, its a prefect mainstream rock tune and i think it would help them sell thousands of records based on its strength

well it was tacked on to transformers and failed to turn any heads, what else does he need. considering that bring the light was written with catchiness in mind, they'd be damn fools not to release it. i'd especially love to hear a "single version" a la kelly watch the stars or "body movin'" (i think thats what it was called)

I think they should release every song as a single, and if they don't than they suck and they're selloutz

I think it's a big mistake to think that you can reform a band in 2007 thinking it will be big again like it was in 1996...Billy!
Anyway, the next single should definately be Gossamer, seeing how it's keeping the audience in the Fillmore during the residencies. |

you're right... totally... what with Zeitgeist sales being #1 worldwide in the first week and shows selling out in minutes. I mean dang.

That's The Way is a poor choice as second single...
Should've went with Doomsday Clock or Bring The Light for sure. |

Doomsday clock I didn't like so much at first because the chorus seemed kind of cacophonous at first, but I dig it now. I think they should do something not as potentially annoying though, That's The Way or Come On Let's Go would be the best choices. I've listened to Zeitgeist now at least 25 times, Come On Let's Go has really, really good replay value, better than BTL.

Doomsday Clock has been my choice all along. Despite the over the top, silly lyrics and oh yeah, the vocals suck... It would still go a long way towards changing the "SP is Gaye" ideas so many have. Plus it's different and hard enough to get some play on harder rock stations. Reminds me a lot of "Zero" and is one of my favorites on Zeitgeist.
edit: Kudos for using cacophonous in a sentence! 100 points! Last edited by candycane : 08-01-2007 at 10:17 PM. |

Doomsday clock is in the top 10 on WBCN in Boston. It actually broke in at number 8 this week and is getting a lot of airplay from them. Is it anywhere else?

I had no Idea it was on the radio anywhere. I have no clue how this stuff works. Maybe I should request it on my local station?
I think that may be news. I know I've never heard it. |

If it doesn't get released as a radio-single, it did already get tons of exposure from the OST.
Besides the mixing that hurts the whole album, the vocals do not suck. There's wAAges on this FEEAH Oooh-oh-ooh so CLEEAH(Corgasm) Depends on what you'll paaay to HEEAHR (Insert unpredictable and original dark harmonies where applicable) I love it. Don't care who don't. |

yes i agree doomsday is awesome and would be good single.
but i also agree that vocals are its weakness. having been listening to all those live recordings available, doomsday clock, and other zeitgeist songs as well, is just getting better and better. billy's vocal and chorus are awesome. they should re-record it!!!!!!! |

I may be completely in the minority here, but I NEVER listen to the radio. How much does releasing a song as an official "single" really help album sales...
Face it, the band is polarizing and few people are going to say, "Wow, smashing pumpkins...that song rocks, I need to buy their album." |
