I heard this song on the radio last night. First new thing I have heard on the radio from BC since... That's the Way? I think

It is catchy and has a nice vibe. And he doesn’t spoil the mood with a lyric like “I will be special k” that sticks in the air like a stinky fart.

I happened upon this list that Spin made of every Pumpkins song ever, ranked. It was from 2015, I believe. They seriously had "That's the Way" at like #18. What the fuck? Meanwhile gems like Spiteface and Feelium were down at like 305 and 303.

One at All was at 39. I'm wondering if Monuments Rocks or Fuzzy wrote this fucking thing. Jesus Christ.

Thumbs up

I'LL BE BACK!! William Patrick Corgan famously again said.

Thanks to the "Helloween" charme of their new video the band got some new attention to get back the lantern position in the Alternative Charts.

Maybe a video in Santa costumes to their next looking around single "Knights of Malta" would gain the attention even more...

From close up the Smashing Pumpkins are still "Billy" Corgan:

Looking at that top 40...

Rock is indeed dead, at least in the mainstream

Is that good or bad

I went on a cottage getaway 2 weekends back and I heard Silvery once on the way up and once on the way down. Don't really listen to radio anymore as I'm seldom in cars on long trips, but it was nice to hear.

Jesus, look at that chart. Is there any one person who knows even 50% of those songs? SP should be higher. I like the song.

It's weird how alternative never really meant anything in particular, but now it literally signifies fucking nothing. Mumford and Sons is alternative? There are pop, singer/songwriter, and Americana acts on the alternative chart?

For some reason I put on DC101 yesterday and they now play a mix of 90s alternative bands and a bunch of random shit, mostly what I would just call guitar pop, and they brand it as "YOUR ALTERNATIVE"

Same. I mean it's alright, but there's nothing special about it.

I don't know what kind of rock music "alternative rock" is supposed to be the alternative to.

Like, glam rock doesn't really exist anymore, and is nowhere near being the hegemonic rock genre. Alternative rock is just rock.

I've heard Silvery Sometimes on the radio 5 times, and I've heard Solara at the gym 4-5 times now, it must be on a playlist there or something.

I only listen to the radio when a coworker has it on at work, and they either play the pop/hip-hop stations, or the top hits from the '70s onward stations. If it's the "alternative rock" station, it's usually Black Keys or Arctic Monkeys or something. I only hear Pumpkins on "throwback Thursdays."

I think I actually heard "G.L.O.W." once ten years ago, though.

They played it a bit on Q101 Chicago. Not as much as Freak though in 2010.

If I was to hear it in public, I would be surprised. Although I did hear Eye at the gym a few years ago.

Are you an LA Fitness member? Because Solara plays a lot on their rotation.

Last new Pumpkins song I heard on the radio was Freak... And it wasn't even really played by the station!

Loveline was aired by some other station, and Loveline had played it as an intro leading into the show lol.

I've heard Being Beige and One and All played on my works satellite feed before too.

Still haven't heard any of the 2 new tracks aired at all.

the most surreal part of catching Silvery Sometimes on the radio was hearing the DJ speak out loud, "Silvery Sometimes"

"Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)" has to rank somewhere in the top 10 of Corgan's Worst Song Titles, along with "Pomp & Circumstances", "The Crying Tree of Mercury" and "Run2Me". I know that song titles mean essentially nothing (when I tell people who don't know SP music that my favorite song is called "Mayonaise" they tend to give me a weird look) but he was really scraping the bottom of the barrel with some of those titles.

Agreed, but considering how many songs the dude wrote that is a pretty small list.
