The dropped consonants and the vibrato ruin this. I'm sorry. Fix that, and this is all amazing. Its like Wolfgang Puck is coming over to make you dinner, but when he shows up, he just microwaves some Kraft dinner. It's like....ehhhhhhh......

Will Billy play every day until the release? That's still several weeks...

Credit where it is due. That was the most interesting version of "Smiley" I ever heard.

no, if a show went particularly well Billy would stay on stage as the rest of the band left and sing it acappella. beautiful version here, this is the last time it was performed in full before now:

When crogan croaks it, stuff like this will make me regret every bad word I spoke about him. If I'd been there for this I think I would have cried.

Yeah I mean, it's his song. And without all the SD production and multiple vocal takes this is how it sounds. This song and SD generally stopped me from wanting to kill myself at 16. As well as a bunch of other SP songs. Even as a 50 year old guy playing in front of his phone in his dumbass tea shop, the fact that he wrote this song and that when he plays it alone on a guitar that's about as 'real' as that song gets...yeah that means enough to me that if I saw it in person I would probably cry. And to me anyway, it redeems all the other bullshit, enough that I know when he does I'll be more grateful than disdainful.

I'd say it's cool to admit some of Bill's songs still give you the feels. I'm surprised from time to time the old albums still mean as much to me as they do compared with a lot of bands I was following at the time period.

Soma today. Bill giving the SD fans what they want.

Piano Soma sounds surprisingly awesome. I wonder if this tour or album will be 100% piano?

I guess the vibrato is automatic for him now.

i know it's fun to slag off billy but it's pretty impressive that he can play these intricate guitar compositions on piano like that

i mean he's simplifying them hardcore, most people could do the same thing. i still like it im just saying, his piano playing is not 'impressive'

I don't know about this. love soma, hate the way he plays piano.

You know what I liked on the piano? Annie Dog. I would be interested to hear that without any production.

I think the whole thing where he takes a guitar song which exhibited his considerable skill as a musician, and then scales it down to playing the piano with his index fingers is ridiculous but also it's being vulnerable and taking a chance and I think that's good and interesting.

But I've complained for years about bad production and wanting to see things stripped down so for me personally, this is better than most of the stuff I've seen him do in the last decade.

I actually wondered if this album might be the Chicago Songs which is interesting because I do seem to have gone full retard in the last few days and that is a full retard kind of thought.

I dunno. I'll rip on him for a lot of things, but playing songs with just him and one instrument in the shitty teahouse I actually find rather endearing. I like these videos.

But come on how many times do we have to tell you to use fucken landscape

Somebody help ole pappy there with his iPhone

that huge energy ring of his is weighing his hand down no wonder he can only play basic stuff on the piano
