But the album's decent and new JCC soon. Hopefully the real reunion is coming and D'arcy still has her quality control senses.

APC is coming out with a new album (summer 2018?), so james is busy

Definitely agree with you re: the interview. Stern always enables the most dysfunctional, codependent aspects of Billy's personality.

It'll be interesting to see if Billy slides back into his old self in coming interviews, because I feel like Stern was rekindling shit from the past that Billy had recently healed from.

When he was promoting Oceania, Howard wouldn't let Billy play anything from the new album cuz he wanted Billy to play "Tonight, Tonight"... and this was during a time when Billy was trying very hard to downplay the past and promote the 'new' Smashing Pumpkins. They compromised in that Billy would perform "Tonight, Tonight" live so long that Howard played on track from Oceania in full (Stern played "Violet Rays").

Billy only acquiesced due to the large audience that Howard has (~18 million listeners or so at the time). So of course, it's always in Billy's (or anybody's) best interest to play to Stern's favors.

While Howard has been a ridiculously successful shock jock, he's terrible at being a program director and even worse at picking good music/new bands. There are so many acts that Stern swore would be successful that just wound up bombing (the first one that comes to mind is Widow maker (Who, you ask? Exactly).
