I'm thinking there had to be some significant rehearsal and planning ahead of time - that's a lot of songs to sit in on. I'm curious to hear the whole story here.

I also wonder if James was sent a demo for the new song ahead of time so he could work out a part for it. His guitar part sounds REALLY cool on it.

Do we have video of the moment he actually appears on stage? This one has the crowd kinda taking it in before Billy says anything:

Edit: sorry, will get on figuring out how to embed

He's barely playing on any of the songs that he hasn't played a thousand times before. Songs like Mayo are straight up normal versions.

On some of the songs I'm not even sure his guitar is up in the mix.

There was very very little rehearsal here. Certain parts you can see they worked on though like the outro to Mayo, and they still flub it.

It's obvious this was very spur of the moment.

Also playing the same venue tonight in LA, let's hope for more!

Agree that this had minimal rehearsal

Has Billy finally grown up? Acoustic shows, no recent temper tantrums, reuniting with Iha...we'll see if the music improves.

I'm more or less hoping we will get a grown up, mature album about Billy coming to terms with himself with Iha, Jimmy and Jeff playing on it. Hopefully James will be the one that tells Billy to turn down the fucking vocals.

James Iha asked Billy to bring in a third guitarist back in the MCIS days, right? I say recruit Iha and keep Shredder. I think they both sound great with Birry Cognac

There's no medication for narcissism. He can mask the depression but he can't mask the other stuff.

I almost hate myself for how excited this makes me

I'm about to go see my best friend in the whole world who I get to see maybe once a year at best and this is all I can think about

Help me, someone help me understand this

I can't imagine this is anything more than a one-off but goddamn, just goddamn

I had 3 reactions to this,

One,wow that's a cool a surprise.

Two, gee I wonder how Billy will fuck this up and complain about it for the next 10 years.

Three, this was very spur of the moment, Billy was swept up in it, woke up already regretting it this morning. Tonight James won't be there and for the next year we will be hearing "I got on stage with James and it was spur of the moment and great, but then the rest of the tour everyone was disappointed James wasn't there."

Hopefully this won't happen, but I have zero faith in this mans ability to not turn every nice positive thing into something he's bitter and hateful about.

Wow

Would like to know if this is related with the leaks, Billy said all members were against it. Maybe they had to make a connection and it went better than expected.

Even if it's only one night special guest I'm really happy to see them together.

Love James. Bill looks super happy/nervous about this. Hopefully this is a stepping stone for more to come. I'm sure they can wheel out Darcy for a few songs next year.

Leave it to a couple of netphorians to throw some negative shade on what is a positive and happy moment.

And that's all it is, a moment. Leave it at that.

This has been a weird few months.

Billy has a baby.
Billy goes on a road trip.
Billy goes to LA and writes songs.
Billy reunites with James.

But where's Airplane Mode.

I mean I don't think corgan would have made such a huge decision like this, if he would have had any inkling he'd regret it the next morning. Something big happened between those two, and they're hugging on stage. Let's all just be happy about that for a hot minute.

Fucking amazing. I am so happy right now! Heard about it on taperssection this morning but didn't have time to catch up until now. My friend Nadine wanted to send me this picture last night but I had told her that I was trying to stay in the dark about the tour until Chicago. Love this picture so much...

There's a tiny, tiny cynical part of me that suspects all this is just part of Billy's recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame talk and he's basically saying "Hey look! I can get something close to the original lineup together for the induction ceremony if needed!"

But the other 99.9 percent of me is doing backflips over this. This is just pure feel-good stuff here.
