Lol as insane as that sounds, I was actually contemplating that as a reason as well.

But I mean, it makes no sense. Why would they go on and bring on a group as divisive and big as Nickelback if they weren't trying to fully capitalize on the tickets they'd sell? As much as some people hate Nickelback, they're definitely a huge draw.

Here's a crazy thought:

Perhaps Corgan had a clause in the contract that Nickelback could only be announced after a certain period of time in an effort to not steal the thunder from the fact that it's a Pumpkins comeback tour. If Nickelback was announced on the bill right away, they would likely be creating more of a stir with their fans than the Pumpkins and then you just have a clusterfuck on your hands. Supposing this is the theory, this way it gives Pumpkins fans first crack at deciding what they wanna spend for what seats and once that dies down then Nickelback can be announced and THEN all the secondary markets and remaining seats available would be bought up in a heartbeat.

I'd say the rumor was nonsense if it wasn't for Billy bringing up Kroeger out of the blue and complimenting him for no reason on that instagram post. I really think that was meant as a tactical play by Corgan. This way when everyone is outraged that Nickelback is on the tour he can say "look, I've always been been vocal about appreciating his songwriting prowess, this shouldn't surprise anyone"

Billy said the Kroeger thing and praised him a few months ago because he thought it'd generate a few headlines and he likes trolling the 'consensus' of hipster sites like Consequence of Sound and Pitchfork. I actually like it when he does stuff like that because it's funny, what annoys me is when he addresses shit like the D'arcy situation with posts that he intentionally makes impossible to understand.

Last european tours where really crappy mostly because billy treats his fans in concerts like shit. I mean i was in munich there were only 2000 people in the olympic hall. And billy was pissed from the start. 20 years ago he could have filled the whole hall with 20000 people. What a drag he is

My AirBnB cancelled on me and it was pretty much the final straw in my indifference about this tour. I put my Montreal ticket up on stubhub for the minimum amount it'd let me just to try and recoup my money.

Someone in Montreal buy H5 pls! :v
