he's so fucking bad and he's always been bad and the only reason people watched his show because some producer or writer or director finally figured out that they could let the actual stars entertain everyone with these lip synch battles and shit and he could do his slacker impressionist thing that he's been coasting on forever, you know do like 100 impressions passably

talk shows in general are the fucking worst and i cannot bring myself to watch them without starting to hate humanity because it's nearly always as fake as fake can get. they're relics of 70's-80's culture that much like anything else nowadays turned corporate, and it's just not enjoyable watching that anymore with the fake laughs and expensive suits and audiences going wild over any dumb unfunny joke
only seldom there's a truly great human moment to be found there |

They played it up a lot during weekend update and even had a couple sketches outside of weekend update playing it up. It's certainly possible but I'm kinna an snl geek and I never read anything that said they hooked it up.
