As if this board is inundated with threads. As if smashing pumpkins 'discussion' needs to be maintained, organized, and categorized for serious study. As if anyone gives a shit, or anyone that does give a shit has a legitimate reason to do so.

"Eye" is one of my favorite SP songs, but man has it not aged well at all.
When this song came out very few acts had the resources or support to access the technology needed to make the sounds heard on this song. Now that technology is so affordable that electronic noises and fake-as-shit sounding drums are on damn near everything that's released making "Eye" sound more like a demo by someone who doesn't have a band than a song produced by a top major label act. |

Huh, I've never thought about it that way. Drum machines always turned me off, I never really got that they were sought after and trendy in the 90s |

electronic gear was very accessible in the 90's, especially quality gear to a band like SP.
b0lly just doesn't have an ear for what good electronics are. who produced that track? (probably b0lly himself...) |

Even though I think "Eye" is a cool song the fake drums really bother my ear and ruin the whole listening experience for me now... which is not a problem I had with that song when it first came out like almost 20 years ago now or whatever. |

Adore has some great electronics. TFE has some great electronics. both produced by BC. i think his more recent electronic dabblings, e.g., run2meeeeeee, one diamond one heart, being beige, are generally worse than his older ones, e.g., beautiful, all of adore, the sacred and profane (and many more). although i do think monuments was a pretty rockin song. loved the synths in that one. |

Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals. Except the weasel. |
