Default Never Let Me Down Again

Anyone willing to upload an mp3 of this for me? Great cover but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I've always liked the Smashing Pumpkins' version of 'Never Let Me Down Again', but that's been out for a while" --Martin Gore

"It's interesting to hear other peoples' perspective on our songs and the way that they hear them and the way that musically they record them. I particularly like the Smashing Pumpkins version of 'Never Let Me Down', because it's kind of like the opposite of what you'd expect the Pumpkins to do with it. I actually like their version a lot better than ours." --Dave Gahan

Interesting to know Dave Gahan prefers the SP version

Cool As Ice Cream's link is an mp3, and it's the same recording; there wasn't a studio recording.

that [Depeche Mode] song that they just did was live, that was not a recording
what you're hearing is live - I know it sounds really great - but it is live!

Right, I guess I meant rather than the same recording, it was a recording of same performance. But I think when we're talking about mp3s for an iPod, details like source and lineage and all that can kinda be tossed out the window.

But gosh, I remember being so stoked to hear that song after downloading it off of Provost's SPAA, RIP. Good times.

this song has been released on:
- rocket single (7" and cd - '94)
- large 'n' in charge (promo compilation cd - '94)
- for the masses (depeche mode tribute hdcd - '98)
- not another teen movie (soundtrack - 2001)
- different online stores such as itunes, itunes+, 7digital, ...

every release is different. the rocket cd single version is very quiet, for example. (same recording, of course.)

Not really, listen to this mp3 and a CD-sourced mp3... the differences are very clear (the reverb T&T mentioned).

Ok, on a close listen there is a pretty clear difference (is the echo is Billy's vocals the reverb that was mentioned? because that is way different). I hadn't thought about it before, but does that imply they recorded the parts on separate tracks and mixed it later? Or is it less substantial than that?
I still insist, if you're in your car or on the bus listening from your ipod, the difference is negligible. I mean, I'm not here to fight. . . . oh wait, I'm logged onto Netphoria, that's exactly what I'm here to do. nm.

what other differences are there? I always thought the released versions would all be the same. maybe a bit of volume leveling which is expected for compilations, but anything else?
wanna upload a flac of each?

I love Depeche Mode, they are on my top5 bands so SP+DM is something for me :E

Actually 'Never Let me Down Again' is the only one cover allowed (by me) to be played on the 20th anniversaries shows would be super!

this is probably all there is to it. it gets louder and louder every time it's released again. one could probably argue that the version on the rocket single is the best one, despite being relatively quiet.

i'll upload the flacs tomorrow. no more time today.
if anyone wants to discuss what version they prefer, please, be my guest.

only recently with itunes genius have i begun using playlists
and yesterday i noticed it was really really nice how hummer was much quieter then the rest
it just sounded sooo good. maybe the mastering is the only thing that's wrong with music today.
maybe,..
