The plan right now, as per the new interview

Vol 2 - Cyr

Vol 3 - 10 songs . Hazy psychedelic . Stopped working on this because he needs help from the other members. About 60% done.

While waiting for Vol 3 to be finished he started a new album. A ”magnum rock opus”

Wrath is pretty good. Sounds like a Pumpkins song.

Confessions, I feel like it could be a decent song but the keys are a bit bland, the drum sound is tinny, and I see Billy is going Full-American-Gothic singing style again.

The dropped consonants are like nails on a chalkboard for me. Ust ills the s-ong

My impression from the first 25 seconds of Wrath:

These are the maybe the worst vocals/lyrics I’ve ever heard.

I'd say I much prefer TFE and Zwan (especially Djalizwan/Spun), hell even Monuments.

Confessions sounds like he tried to make a modern radiohead song in fruity loops

So the new animated video series is just music videos? What the hell did I just watch? How am I literally disappointed by everything involved with the Pumpkins now. I thought this was going to be a real animated show like the Machina project but brought to fruition.

It's almost as if the moving pictures tell a story

I guess it's something like...

Everyone's electronic devices go dead from an EMP or like, THAT BIRD, and anarchy breaks out. I guess...Zero and June V2.0 run into the forest with their friend. They all do drugs/silver ghost V2.0 and June sees Zero performing in front of people and cheating on her. Friend dies. June and Zero come across the Owl At Midnite.

This sums up my feelings pretty much too.

I'll go further and say these songs from this album sound like the worst songs from any artist, any genre, any generation I've ever heard. Yuck

So painful to listen to

Dopamine Addict has a bit too much Robert Frost diahrrea poetry going on and it clashes with the music in a bad way

I really like Wrath though. Sweet melodies and straightforward lyrics.

you guys are way too optimistic

I'm 80% sure the rest of the record is like this. TAFH is the only record that did a similar sort of thing, and even that had Marquis and Pennies on the same section

Yeah Wrath is easily the best of the new 4 I'd say.

Just listening to Shiny 1 for comparison's sake.

Wow I forgot how bad the "whoa whoa whoa" is on Knights of Malta. Couldn't finish it.

Silvery Sometimes must be one of the best songs he's released this millennium. Has a Zwan or Machina feel to it. Maybe Try?

Travels has that same vibe but it's a bit plodding. I like the mix on his vocals better the last 2 songs. This is too long and the drums are pretty thuddy.

Solara is pretty bad. Reminds me of GLOW. Billy's singing seems out of tune in a couple of places. This is definitely 21st Century Pumpkins rock. Sub-Zeitgeist and Oceania for sure.

Alienation is terrible. Is this supposed to be an anthem type of song? Reminds me of late-era U2.

Marchin' On. Guitar have a bit of Machina II vibe. Even the vocals. Definitely the vocals. Why not more like this?

With Sympathy. Like Silvery, definitely one of the best songs he's released in 20 years.

Seek and Destroy. Not the best but better than Travels, Solara and Alien Nation. And Malta.

Now trying the new ones again.

Confessions the vox just kill me. Musically yeah, this sounds like The Future Embrace or something. Stuff like Eye and Beginning is the End is in the same general vein but darker and much better.

Wrath still sounds pretty TFE. His vocals are much better here. The mix isn't too bad. Yeah this is another song that ranks up there with the best he's released in the last while. These songs don't really build up to anything though. I remember him talking about Geek USA and dynamics in songs and Billy saying sometimes you can't just keep speeding up, and the drop in Geek is so powerful. None of these songs have any dynamics. It's all just mid-tempo 100bpm.

Cyr I just can't stand. One of my least favourite tracks post-2000.

Colour of Love. This is okay. Better than Cyr. Still pretty plodding despite the fast tempo. The synth line reminds me of being in Sears and trying out the $100 keyboard.

oh sure, probably freaked Billy the fuck out something that was happening organically with his bandmates could trump his studio concoction in such a way - enter Cyr & the children of Dopamine!

ok maybe i got a just a tad wee little bit carried away. i've only listened to cyr (the video was awful btw), colour, and wrath and i thought the instruments had the old sp vibe and billy was actually singing with emotion.

maybe i should reevaluate ...

These songs fucking suck
They never change. They just plod along with any real build up or momentum.
Just plodding along bland and boring, soulless crap.
I don't get the love for songs.
Here's another 3-4 minute song with no dynamics that never actually changes or gets off the ground.
20 songs of Billy barely trying.
