Nope, because the worst NIN ever did was release a 3/5 album (With Teeth). Trent is basically perfect.

I didn't mind it when I saw him perform. I actually liked that he wasn't afraid to tell people they were being assholes. But the whole War On Drugs thing just felt so petty and childish

the Koz thing was weird/embarrassing but it doesn't really compare to all of Billy's antics. Kozelek's worst thing was when he publicly sang about how that journalist wants to fuck him and won't get off his dick or whatever. It's really a shame he reacted that way because she was harassing him and his friends at their homes, and he could have chosen a course of action that would have resulted in things being quietly resolved instead of the Atlantic publishing her article about how Kozelek sexually harassed her. The whole thing was very wtf. I can say though that he seems to have course-corrected after the bad press, and I am pretty sure in real life Kozelek is a fairly grounded, regular guy. Not like Wild Bill

heckling the audience and being a sarcastic smartass has been a part of his deal forever. I think he went through some kind of weird period where he allowed the caricature to take over.

I've seen him go at it with audience members before, but I have never gotten the impression he is actually angry and combative like BC during the take my dick out your ass routine

he also had 2 or 3 songs saying that he hated Nels Cline but later he'd reveal it was all a joke and I think he even collaborated with him

I don't know, I never felt it was that cringey, especially never halfway as cringey as MAGA blob was

yeah the Nels Cline thing was a joke. He definitely had a live song at one point where he sang "I hate nels cline" and then he made a bunch of quirky guitar solo noises with his voice, it was pretty funny

that's not just a live song, he recorded it with his other band desertshore, it's called Livingstone Bramble and that whole album was really really good. I can't find the song on youtube but download the Mark Kozelek and Desertshore album

Arcade Fire's new album is p bad but I actually find that 'Everything Now' song has grown on me a bit. Besides, they're at the stage of their career where you really only need 2-3 good songs from each new album to tack on the setlist. Plus I think they have it in them to make something great again down the line.

Billy truly is the benchmark. You get to a certain age, you've wrung out the towel, you don't listen to new music and you are set in your ways. I think a lot of people get into making music for attention and recognition first and foremost, but eventually evolve from that. Billy has not.

The people who are able to succeed at writing interesting/good music into their 40s-50s-60s have to have a little more self awareness and humble curiosity about the whole thing.

That album is really good. 'Mariette' is a killer bbq dad rock jam. I am also a big fan of the "Ghosts of the Highway" or whatever record.

Mariette sounds like counting crows but it's only 2 minutes or so and after that there are some amazing pieces of music

for instance, you are not my blood

Weezer is a group that comes to mind, but they always manage to bounce back and get me into them again. For example, I thought Make Believe was trash and had given up on them but then liked a handful of tracks on the Red Album and Raditude. Then I hated Hurley and they got me back with their next 2 albums. With that said, it all pales in comparison to their original run where every B-side was even a gem.

I guess I've been kinda let down by Green Day too. Everything since American Idiot has been pretty shit (I even think A.I is overrated). I pretty much liked nothing on their last album and very little on Uno, Dos, Tre. But with them, there isn't really much disappointment. I've just sorta moved on and at least with Green Day, they all still seem like great guys and they always put on a great show.

OOOOHHH! a great band that sucks even worse than Billy now?

NO DOUBT... Man, their downfall was brutal. I was in love with Gwen Stefani as a kid. My first concert was No Doubt and Goldfinger in 1996 at a small theater with my cousin, mom and aunt, it was awesome. I then saw them live in a arena the following year with WEEZER opening on their Pinkerton run! (I had always liked their singles but became a legit =w= fan after the show)

I couldn't have ever imagined that Gwen would end up so lame.

And then of course there's this guy

What a terrible wig. A shame so many 90's icons are embarrassments now!
