God fucking dammit redbreegull why do you not understand that saying that arguments for something exist and nothing else is just about the most worthless contribution you can possibly make in any argument.

seriously why the fuck do people keep replying on that "oh fucking hipsters look at them being so indie and hip and douchey" schtick . BORING. Come up with a new argument, please.
Judgement? I never said I thought the album was awful, I'd love to hear what so many other people hear in it. Nor did I mean 'hipsters' as an insult. In the case of, In the Aeroplane, I'll be giving it another go one of these days. Maybe it'll finally click with me.

As for the "i just don't understand how being liked by a certain subculture can detract from the music itself", what the hell man? I couldn't give a shit if I enjoy it.

WILCO. I knew I was forgetting the big one. I cannot get into this band. I even saw them play at this really cool intimate venue last year.... but nothing.

i didn't get YHF at first but months later realized i had half of its melodies stuck in my head

i love love love In the Aeroplane Over the Sea but never listen to NMH's other album. i think Boots Electric did a decent job of explaining the appeal of it.

What I tried to say was that being liked by a certain subculture has no effect on my opinion on music. At least I hope so, I did find Muse fans to be dicks in general once upon a time and it did sour my feelings towards the band back then.

I'm done arguing. English is not my first language, I don't always come across as well as I'd like to.

Aside from a few really good songs, I just can't get into Neil Young. I am currently trying but nothing is sticking.

Or maybe they just find it tiresome to listen to overcompressed clipping macbook-internal-soundcard recorded garage minimalist trash with occasional "ironic" 808, DX7 and handclaps thrown in for a good measure just because 1988-born pitchfork writers say it's more ironic to do than to listen to all those overproduced 90's dinosarus?
