Justin Theroux also stated that he "couldn't possibly tell you what the film's about, and at this point I don't know that David Lynch could. It's become sort of a pastime - Laura [Dern] and I sit around on set trying to figure out what's going on."
Woooow.

i tend not to listen to people who bash on movies without watching them

maybe it's just a bad tendency

sounds like you're avoiding what you think is a pretentious movie by being pretentious.

i was a bit skeptical about children of men myself, though. thats probably why i waited out so long on watching it. it's pretty much what i expected, a decent movie. but it didnt go out of its way to make some huge statement or anything, it was just a pretty straightforward movie. good idea, but, to me, it dragged a bit.

yeah that's actually worse. nothing is more boring than mediocrity. I hated almost every minute of Forrest Gump because it exceeded at being mauldin. Not sure that's really better than mediocrity because I really hated that movie.

lately i watched

Ocean's 13 - ok, but no one seems like they're really putting out any effort
Downfall - a truly fantastic film...
Knocked Up - very good and hilarious
Rules of the Game - the first time i've seen a Renoir movie i think, it is 70 years old and while it's pretty amazing for its time period the story dragged a bit for me.. the camerawork and photography was amazing, however, and the little details of arrangement are impressive
Delicatessen - good movie, not my favorite Jeunet movie but he did great with his budget
Little Children - was ok, didn't dig the narration and it was uneven but had its moments

Solo Con Tu Pareja - very colorful, good cinematography, entertaining, but not great
Volver - really think this is one of Almodovar's best movies, maybe his best, though i haven't seen any before Sobre Todo Mi Madre

downfall is that german movie about hitler? pretty great, although the part where hitler kisses eva braun is a historical liberty that they didn't need to take.

that bit where the woman kills all her children is crazy and absolutely true

Children of Men and Inland Empire are extremely different movies, and I'm a big david lynch fan.

Whatever man, don't see it, your loss, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen, sounds like a lot of other people loved it as well.

For what it's worth, I thoght downfall was a masterpiece.

Yeah but you're like my roommate, you seem to like everything that you sit down in front of since you're sort of in the business and you know how hard it is to make a movie.

I think most of the movies in this thread are shit. I'm just CAREFUL WHAT I WATCH, as I'm sure you are too. Time is precious.

however, children of men is well worth your time.

barely. it was an above-average comic book movie, which is not saying much. in retrospect i probably would have wanted to see it on DVD instead of spending 8 bucks.

I liked Spiderman 3, the corny Venom shit was cute- in a comic book way.

most comic book movies blow so an above average one would only be mediocre

I love comics. I rated spiderman 3 as a comic movie. compared to shit like fantastic four and daredevil and (shudder) catwoman it's not that bad.

The only comics movies that have been really good are Batman Begins and Sin City. One could argue stuff like Road to Perdition and History of Violence of well but that's getting into graphic novels that don't feature superheroes.

all it boils down to is you should FUCKING See Children of Men if you like great movies. Hell, if you don't like it I will pay for your movie ticket. I believe in in that much.
