I have two coworkers who excitedly bought $170 tickets on the floor or nearby to the Forum show (Guy Who Doesn’t Tip & Tool Enthusiast) and they asked me when I was getting mine. Literally two hours before the show, I replied.

These ticket prices are absolutely outrageous. I wouldn't pay these prices for anyone.

Yep. Will be monitoring a couple weeks before the show here in August and snapping up something reasonable. $150 each? Absolutely not. Billy has enough of my money.

Billy reacts! This is supposed to be a positive reaction, but he looks like he just received another text from D'arcy.

For the record, I think the tour will do fine. Sure, they won't fill up the 300-level seats, but they don't need to. The $500-$99 floor seats will sell out and they will make big bucks on that and merch.

this band once being big is actually the worst thing about it

imagine if they had a coast to coast bar tour with crazy setlists like an old 80's cult group

maybe just need another decade until we get there?

So lame. So if I'd waited three days, I could have had cheaper, arguably better seats. Not sure what's up with the "no tickets available right now" message i saw four minutes after getting mine.

Can we please stop with all the ticket-selling bullshit?
Tickets have been on sale for 4 days, since when are you supposed to sell out 500.000 tickets the first week? Do you think all tours have to either sell out on day one or fail miserably?
Well the answer is no, most concerts don't sell out. Does CoS write an article about every band that doesn't sell out on the first day? They don't.
And also and most importantly, I think we're missing something... they've been doing this for 30 years. It looks like because of one CoS article all of the sudden we're experts on tour planning and ticket selling. But nope, they are.
The Smashing Pumpkins has partners on this, it's not like Billy got up one morning and said "hey, I think I'll book all these arenas cause I'm a crazy person". They looked at the numbers, they planned this shit so everybody can go see them and they said: "let's do it". They planned a huge show, a great setlist and it's going to be fucking crazy on stage. Let's not "worry" about them, the Pumpkins will be just fine. And let's enjoy this, the only thing we know is... that these are going to be some fucking awesome shows. And we don't know how long this is gonna last.
Go buy your ticket, go see them, sing your favorite songs and enjoy your favorite band. That's what music is supposed to be about. Please don't feed those bullshit articles.

As we live in an age of misinformation, anything from third party sites like Alternative Nation, BlastEcho, and Consequence of Sound should be taken with a grain of salt. Some of them even troll message boards and repost comments or posts as news without authorization (even from closed message boards like this). They are clickbait sites and posts referencing them may be deleted. If you are posting from more reputable sites, make sure blog sites like these are not used as references. Although in our personal opinion it would be wise to just take it from the band's social media because in most cases that is where these and other sites will be getting their information too.

If you had hit refresh two minutes you could have had your pick of seats. Still can as a matter of fact.

Not really sure why this is even a story, exact same thing happened when I saw Muse, arena ended up at 66% full or so. Local stations will whore the band out with the classics, give away oodles of tickets to organizations, and tickets will end up for like $15-20 on Groupon (which is what I’m waiting for).

It’s not a failure—unlike the Oceania tour disaster—you’re all forgetting that this time Corgan has Live Nation and a marketing staff now. I mean it’s not going to be a sell out, but it’ll be fine.

Most people who are going to this are the few remaining die hards and people who want to see him do 1979. This is the one time in the past fucking decade where I’m of the opinion people are way too fucking hard on the band.
