I've been listening to the album that is #29 for a few days. (Hozier) It's about 50x better than MTAE

Yeah right. Hozier? He sounds like a really shitty Elton John wannabe. Not even 1/10th as good as MTAE.

Doesn't sound like Elton John to me. Like, at all. Are you sure you are thinking of the same artist?

Part of what makes it better is songs with more than 10 unique words

do you have to shit on everything you don't enjoy yourself?
besides - claiming that Hozier is "not even 1/10th as good as MTAE" is laughable at best.
1/10th of "alright, alright" are you fucking kidding me.
That's a fine looking high horse, what you got in the stable?

Of course I do. He doesn't enjoy MTAE and he's here shitting on it while lauding some second rate Elton John.

It's rock n' roll. People have been saying "yeah" and "alright" for 60 years. Get over it.

He doesn't sound like EJ at all...

MTAE is catchy, but it has no depth. "yeah" and "alright" is okay when it's in a song like hummer, with actual good lyrics and depth. or if it's one song on the album, some kind of fun single-type song. they are all like that except drum and fife and one or two others

he? who is he?

Hozier = 2nd rate Elton John - and what is MTAE then? first rate ringtone?
I like MTAE myself, but is it a great album that should chart any higher than it does? no.

Why are we trying to quantifyingly measure an albums worth vs another album. And not only that..using lyrics to perform the measurement. Weird

Hozier's hit has meaning behind his lyrics, a great voice, and a great hook. Deal with it.

edit - quoted the wrong person. I am shamed

I don't know why, I just couldn't believe my eyes that somebody who quite obviously hasn't even heard the album reprise is referring to, claims it's not even "1/10th" of MTAE. you have to be pretty ignorant or deaf or both to believe that.

ha, sensiblechuckle, I enjoy Hozier more than MTAE, pretty much for the reasons you just stated. the whole album has a lot of room for improvement, but hey, it's a debut by a 24 year old. his voice is fantastic.

He as in reprise85 the person who likes the second rate Elton John.

And you who seems to value his own opinion as though it's some sort of gospel.

I hear the Hozier song every time I turn on the local modern rock station. And I just as quickly turn it off. Not ignorant or deaf. I just don't like it. I do, however, like MTAE.

For the record I think MTAE is good. Dorian is sonically wonderful. I may pick up the Hozier album to see if it's in fact 1/10 the worth. Lol

honestly i had no idea Hozier was even popular, it was on some friend's playlist and i checked out the album which is pretty damn good.

i have no idea why you are comparing him (them?) to EJ, i mean they are both men presumably from europe? really they don't sound alike

that would be she. has it occured to you that you are referring to two women as fanboys? no? doesn't surprise me, can't wait for the "girly music" comment. nice, I see your edit. "drools" "big dick" - you are a complete moron.

and no, are you a bit slow, maybe? I enjoy the entire Hozier album myself, and as I've just said - your claim that it is "1/10th" of MTAE pretty much ends any conversation with you, it's just too ridiculous.

reprise: Hozier is Irish, and 24 years old.

houseofglass, you seem to be very defensive over MTAE. i'm not trying to shit on it, it is just a fact it has very little depth, i think we can mostly agree on that.

yes, and it should be.
speaking of other new albums - I predict Manson's will do pretty well. and if anyone had told me 15 years ago that Corgan and Manson would release new albums a month apart in 2014/15 and Manson would be the one with better lyrics - no way, but somehow it happened.

Manson has always been a good lyricist. No surprise there. His lyrics have always been better than BC.
