-the show was only an hour long. : / however, they opened with Great Big White World and did a pretty good job of covering all the albums. a very healthy amount of Antichrist was played, complete with the podium and a bible that was lit on fire. shockingly, Heart Shaped Glasses is amazing live, and i freakin' HATE the studio version. it came across very Bowie, and i was very glad to see them do it so well. Rock n Roll Nigger also a nice treat.
-manson played with his dick a lot. like, a lot.
damn!! only an hour. grrrrrr.

i got a free ticket for the milwuakee show, and i'm supposed to leave in about 90 min. oh well, even a 1 hour show (about the time it takes me to drive to milwuakee) is worth if for free, specially with all that old material.

btw - the podium/bible shit is totally old school. he did somethign similar in 99, but just ripped out pages vs. burning.

So how was the opening? I'm thinking of delaying things slightly and missing Ours.

I opted for Milwuakee, not just because the ticket was free, but because its at The Rave downstairs (vs. Eagles Ballroom) which is alot smaller than Eagles & Aragon. It will be intense. And you know whats funny -- the 3 previous times that I've seen Manson, it has been in WI (never in Chicago).

Riverside Theater in Milwuakee - 1998
Dane County Colesium - 1999
Eagles Ballroom - 2003

i have no idea. i wasn't so pumped about seeing Ours anyway, but my buddy that i went with had to work late and we got there right as the first notes of Great Big White World were being played.

it seemed like a lot of people followed suit because there was a line when we got there.

ok, you probably missed a couple songs then. We got there just in time to wait 15min and then see the start of Manson.

good show. the band sounded much better than they did in 2003. and the crowd was much more into it than what you described. at least where i was 20ft in front of the soundboard, the crowd was really into it. all the chants and stuff were pulled off pretty well, though nothing too crazy. they played for 1hr 20min, took a 5min break to setup the podium and whatnot, played 1 more song, took another 5min break, and then ended with Beautiful People.

other than the bible/podium schtick, i was kinda disappointed by all the rehashes from the 99 tour. and the bible was totally a prop that just had a few flames on the edges....but i liked how he was acting like a marionette up there. they also rehashed the screen of falling pills, which looked pretty dated and low-res. plus the obscene/mobscene sign, the "fight" stuff, and the confetti. Personally i think he could really push the image of the band by updating some of this stuff. Even if was conciously done that way to be a return to that era vs. just trying to do the tour "on the cheap", it could have been updated.

but the music did sound great. i have to pop Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals back in my rotation.

yeah, i was hanging out in the left wing by the beer. my friends wouldn't venture too far into the crowd, so all i got to see was a bunch of people standing around not singing along or anything.

i've been blasting Mechanical Animals pretty regularly for a while now. i was so excited to get there and hear GBWW, Rock is Dead (which was fucking AWESOME, btw) and the Dope Show (also pretty killer).

on a completely separate note, has anyone heard anything about Godspeed? i still swear to fucking christ's bloody side that i saw a date for them at the Logan Square Auditorium...

I saw them like ten years ago play one of those radio station shows. Actually, it might have been longer than that even. They played for all of forty minutes and for whatever reason I have not been able to see them since. So, yeah, I am pretty excited.
