I get that but I feel like most of your generalisations about contemporary popular music tend to characterise it as being "weak" for not having guitar riffs and "punk attitude" and it's like, even if you don't feel like you're prejudiced against that kinda music doesn't mean that's not what you're passively doing by way of that mentality, yeah?

Is there a difference between the way a little girl cries about stupid shit versus the way a little boy cries about stupid shit?

Is Fred Durst a good example of a little boy crying about stupid shit?

Def Leppards great. One of those bands who was really elevated by the big production. Mutt Langes a fucking genius.
For me it's all about Pyromania though. I mean how can anyone resist just feeling good and nodding their head to this? |

That's another thing I really like about songs from the 80's they never cheesed out on the outro's... Always a big buildup and a finish that peaks and ends off on a high note.

not really man... It seems that what used to be a niche market is all that's shoved out to the forefront now adays.
Singers like Debbie Gibson, Aaron Carter, Tiffany ETC, those artists that were marketed directly for teens and were super popular but just a niche market. I mean now that's the shit that gets all the focus and that's all there is. I mean come on man, no adults are going to find enjoyment from Taylor Swift... Where as years before, it was perfectly reasonable for adults to like the popular music of the era. |

The funny thing is fuzzy is so young to have this nostalgia soaked outdated opinions about the music industry. He's only 28 but he comes off as much older than that with his statements and his fondness for old music and old music industry paradigms.

And I mean and what is the stuff out there nowadays that an average adult might like?
All that lazy retro-revival shit like Sam Smith or Adelle? Gimme a break, that's the most lazy approach I've ever heard... No creativity at all. |

Exactly. That's my point man. I'm judging objectively by the quality of the music... None of this shit is clouded by any sort of weird teenage nostalgia or anything.

but that's just contrarian trolling because he's hurt we didn't accept him and his opinion even though he accepts nothing about what we like and patronizes things we're interested in and doggedly holds on to illogical arguments (eg, "don't be sheep follow the big labels because that's the punk rock thing to do") i just can not accept this person being real |

Am I in some sorta alternate universe?
I've read the exact same sentiments of what I feel expressed by a lot of respected music writers, so it's not as if I'm just talking outta my ass with some crazy ideas here. |

you don't even remember what you were supposed to believe in because you're getting lazy and posting too much
remember a believable personality needs to have internal logic and remember what they believe in |

I mean, Slunken may not like me, but theres a poster who I totally respect and really admire his passion and overall knowledge of music. Guys the real deal.
Trots: what you don't realize is guys like you and Johnny are the ones who come looking for an argument... So when I disagree you spit back that I'm just trolling by being the contrarian. It's kinda weird man. |

At almost any given point the music of the past is going to seem better because there's more of it and it's had a longer time to sink in. The odds of something being released today that's as good as the cream of the crop of 60+ years of music is pretty slim. |

However the music you listen to is all about on the level with Taylor Swift just with heavy guitars
